TJSAT (STASH Mid-Atlantic) Online - 12/19 (HS Closed)

Post by moneyman101 »

The Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is pleased to announce the Thomas Jefferson STASH Academic Tournament (TJSAT) on Decemeber 19th, 2020. THIS TOURNAMENT WILL BE HOSTED ONLINE - SEE BELOW.

QUESTION SET:
The tournament will be using the STASH set, a HS Nationals set written by us, TJHSST. More information about the set can be found here.

TJSAT's current field cap is 18, but this may be increased depending on staffer availability. Please sign up by 12/12/2020. Teams will be limited to at most 6 people, so schools planning to bring more than 6 students should register another team. During the rounds, up to 4 students are permitted to play at any given time, and up to 2 students can sub out at halftime. Teams may have fewer than 4 people. Teams dropping out after 12/15/2020 will still be responsible for the entirety of the fee, though exceptions may be granted in extreme situations.

ELIGIBILITY:
All students on a team must be from the same school (no “open” or “chimera” teams allowed). Teams from PA, MD, DC, DE, WV, and VA may play in this tournament. Other regions will be hosting their own tournaments, so be sure to check them out if you are not in the Mid-Atlantic Area. If you are not from these states but would like to play this mirror, please email us at [email protected] - we may grant exceptions.

Rules against cheating and misconduct will be strictly enforced at this tournament. We reserve the right to remove anyone suspected of cheating or misconduct from the tournament. We will also notify coaches and relevant quizbowl organizations about any such acts. If you suspect anyone of cheating, please contact a TD.

We do not tolerate any form of misconduct. If you are threatened or feel in any way unsafe at this tournament, please reach out to a TD or staffer and fill out this quizbowl misconduct form here.

LOGISTICS:
Due to the current health crisis, this tournament will be conducted entirely online through Discord. After payment is received, we will send the link to the Discord server. All players/coaches should join the Discord server at least a day before the tournament. The first round will start at 8:30AM EDT, but participants should aim to be on the server by 8:15. Teams will not be required to congregate to play. Cameras will also be required to minimize cheating at this tournament. More logistics will be emailed out to teams as the tournament date approaches.

FEES:
Registration fee per team: $85

DISCOUNTS:
-$10 per each competent staffer (staffer discounts may run out if many staffers sign up)

Minimum registration fee: $55

The method by which fees will be collected will be emailed to you upon registration. Please send one payment per school. When making your payment, please note your school’s name and “Registration Fee." Because of the difficulties of online payment, payment can be submitted up to 2 weeks after the tournament, but please try to turn in your payment at least three days before tournament day if able.

SIGN UP HERE:

Please direct any questions to the Thomas Jefferson Quizbowl officers at [email protected]. We hope to see you in November!

In light of recent events, I will be serving as TD for this tournament tomorrow. Stefan will not be participating and Justin and Pratyush will work in the control room.

All players and staff, in addition, will be expected to follow the code of conduct used for IKEA (with all instances of "IKEA" being replaced with "STASH")
