OF MICE and MEN (MI Only MCMT) [11/28]

Post by lava_lock »

Hello!

I’m proud to announce the Online Formatted Michigan Charity Event and More Extracurricular Novelties (OF MICE and MEN)! This will be a tournament run on November 28th. This tournament will be tournament directed by myself and Jordan Davidsen. It will also be assistant tournament directed by Jacob Hardin-Bernhardt and Jeff Xie.

Eligibility:
The field will be closed to high school and middle school teams from Michigan only. Pseudonyms are allowed at this tournament.

Question Set:
This tournament will be run using tossups and bonuses from the set MCMT. This is a high school regular difficulty set and more information about it can be found here.

Location:
This tournament will be run online using the platform of Discord. It will start at 9 AM Eastern. Each team will be guaranteed 10 rounds. Cameras will be required for all competitors.

Registration:
Teams can register by putting themselves down on this Google Sheet. The field cap will tentatively be 20 teams, but this may expand if there are waitlisted teams and enough staff. A list of the field can be found in the registration sheet.

Payment:
Registering for this tournament will cost $60 per team. You may get a staff discount of $25 per staff. Please Venmo @Aalok-Bhattacharya to pay. If you don’t have a paypal, please contact [email protected] and we can sort out other payment methods. All profits from this tournament will be donated to Matt’s Buzzers, an organization that provides grants for schools to buy buzzer systems.

Staffing:
If you would like to staff, please mark yourself down on the registration Google Sheet. Please review the ACF rules linked below before the tournament if you want to staff. Staff will get a stipend or discount for a team of $25 for staffing.

Rules:
We will use ACF rules. Competitors will have 5 seconds after buzzing to give an answer and 7 seconds to answer a bonus after the question is read to completion.

Misconduct and Cheating:
All players, spectators, and coaches must adhere to the PACE Code of Conduct, linked here . Players, spectators, and coaches should report misconduct either directly to staff or via the misconduct form found here. We take misconduct very seriously and will deal with all instances of misconduct.

Cheating will not be tolerated at this event. If sufficient evidence of cheating is found at this event, the player will be kicked out from this event. We also reserve the right to tell local and national quizzing organizations about a player cheating if they are found to have cheated.

Unfortunately it looks like DeWitt won't be able to field a large enough team for that date at this time. I've gone ahead and removed our info from the sign-up sheet. Sorry, and hope the tournament goes well!

This tournament is in less than two weeks. We are still looking for some staff and are expecting more teams to compete. The staffing stipend is $25, to sign up please fill in your name and email at the right of the registration spreadsheet.

Since the first row of the google sheet is just a title and is not actually a team, shouldn't the field cap in the google sheets be at the 21st row so there are 20 total teams signed up (instead of the current 19)?

This has been fixed.

We are looking for more staffers so we can expand the field.

This tournament finished yesterday! Statistics can be found here. DCDS B won the 1-2 final against DCC A 335-265. Thank you to all the participants and the staffers who made it possible to run this tournament.
