Triton Fall IX "@" UCSD [11-14-2020]

Post by Arras Agility »

The UCSD Quizbowl team is excited to announce Triton Fall IX, to be hosted online on Saturday, November 14, 2020.

This tournament will be open to high school teams and will have consist of two divisions: Junior Varsity and Varsity. The Varsity division will be a mirror of LONE STAR and the Junior Varsity division will be a mirror of NAQT's IS-194A set.

Eligibility:
The Varsity division will be open to all Southern California high school teams. The Junior Varsity division will be open only to Southern California high school teams that have no players who have scored 50 or more PPG in a JV division, 30 or more PPG in a Varsity division, or 10 or more PPG at a high school national tournament. "Southern California schools" are defined as being physically located or (if an online school) based in the ten southernmost California counties. "High schools" are defined according to NAQT eligibility rules.

Teams of more than six players will not be accepted.

Pricing:
New schools (schools that did not play a tournament in the 2019-2020 season) will pay a flat fee of $30 per team.
Returning schools will pay $60 per team.

Discounts:
-$20 per school that successfully introduces quizbowl to another school
-$10 per provided staff member properly equipped and capable of moderating and/or scorekeeping online.

Early Registration:
-$10 per team that registers on or before October 31.

Minimum Fee:
$30 for each new or returning team.

How to Register:
More logistics information will be provided closer to the date of the tournament to teams that have registered. To register (or if you have any questions), email us at [email protected] with:
1. How many teams you expect to bring in each division(include a request for waitlisted teams)
2. A contact email and phone number
3. Additional discounts
4. Final expected cost
Please include the name of the tournament as well as your school in the subject of your email ("UCSD registration for Triton Fall")

We will implement a soft field cap of 20 teams until we can confirm staffers, with soft caps of 10 teams for Varsity and 10 teams for Junior Varsity. Returning schools will be limited to registering three teams each. Any additional teams they would like to register will be placed onto a waitlist. If reserved spots are not filled one week prior to the tournament or we can expand the field cap, teams on the waitlist will be let off.

This happened today! Stats are up on the database. Arcadia A defeated Santa Monica A 475 - 240 in the first game of an advantaged final to win the Varsity division; Scripps Ranch B defeated Canyon Crest B 310 - 285 in the first game of an advantaged final to win the JV division. Congratulations to those teams, and thanks to all the teams and staffers who attended.
