Harvard Fall Tournament @ MSU (11/23)

Post by eiriksmal »

Michigan State University’s Academic Competition Club is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a mirror of the Harvard Fall Tournament (HFT) on November 23rd, 2019.

The tournament will be held in Berkey Hall (509 E Circle Dr, East Lansing, MI 48824) on MSU’s campus. The tournament will start promptly at 9:00AM, and we ask that teams arrive between 8:30 and 8:45 to check-in. We recommend that teams park in Ramp #6 (Grand River), which has entrances on eastbound Grand River Ave. and West Circle Dr. Parking in Ramp 6 is FREE on Saturdays.
Here is a campus map indicating the locations of Berkey Hall and Ramp 6.

HFT @ MSU will use this year’s rendition of Harvard’s annual fall set. This set aims to be slightly more difficult that the average high school set, so it will provide a challenge for all teams. More information about this set can be found here .

Fees and Registration:
The base fee for Harvard Fall will be $90 for a single team and then $80 for each subsequent team, with the following discounts:
-$5 per working buzzer set indicated on your registration
-$5 if paid in cash
-$10 per 100 miles traveled one-way as measured by Google Maps
-$20 for teams from schools that haven’t participated in a Quizbowl tournament since September 1, 2018 (please let us know if you think you qualify)
Minimum fee per team is $40

You can register for Harvard Fall @ MSU by sending an email with the following information to [email protected] with the subject line “[your school’s name] Harvard Fall registration”:
1. School name
2. Number of teams
3. Number of buzzers you intend to bring
4. Contact information (email and phone number) for one individual/coach who will be attending the tournament
Payment can be made in the form of a check made out to “MSU Academic Competition Club” or in cash on the day of the tournament.
We are going to set an initial field cap at 18 teams and will expand upon that depending on interest.

If you have any questions about HFT @ MSU please feel free to email us at [email protected].
We look forward to seeing you all in November!

Congratulations to Miami Valley on the win in this tournament, and Detroit country day for the second place.

(And Troy with the "Joe Momma" refrence… )
