Southwestern High School (Piasa, Illinois) will be hosting the Piasa Bird Invitational V (PBI V) on January 11, 2020. The PBI V will be run on the 2019 Scottie set from Glasgow, Kentucky.
Each round will consist of 20 tossup questions with 20 3-part bonuses. The tournament will use 15-point "powers" (reward for an early enough buzz), and "negs" a 5-point penalty for preemptive, incorrect buzzes. Bonuses will not rebound.
We're currently looking for a field of 18 teams. Expansion to 24 is possible if there is interest.
Managment
Marshall Mullins will serve as Tournament Director for the PBI V.
Fees
Fees are $70 for the first team and $60 for each subsequent team.
A concession stand will be available on site for teams. There are no viable options to leave the campus during lunch break.
Registration

Teams wishing to register can also email Matt Hasquin ([email protected]) and tell me how many teams, buzzers and staffers your school will be bringing.

Re: Piasa Bird Invitational V @ Southwestern H.S. (Piasa) - 1/11/2020
With the weather looming over us, we still had a great tournament today and I think we can call the fifth iteration of the Piasa Bird Invitational a success. Marshall Mullins did a fantastic job, as always, as tournament director. A successful scholastic bowl event depends on great readers and we had them today. Thanks to Sister John Baricevic, Zoe Bohn, Pat Dugas, Joshua Erwin, Kimberly French, Elizabeth Furness, Kaeden Kessinger, Andrew Miller, Jacob Simmons, Brad Tutterow, Brian Tutterow, Joy Tutterow, and Luke Tutterow. The awards ceremony was able to start at 3:00 pm, and I can't recall an event that we have hosted that was this efficient.
As always, we had great support from our players' parents. The kids had a great lunch and the hospitality room was outstanding. We're blessed to have so many people support the program.
Thanks for all that you do.
