CNN Tournament (Novice); Cave Spring Middle School, Roanoke, VA 10/26/19

Post by jsprouse »

Hello all!

Cave Spring Middle School is pleased to announce the first installment of the Chicken Nugget Novice (CNN) Tournament to be held on October 26, 2019. http://hsquizbowl.org/db/tournaments/5318/

Location
The tournament will take place at Cave Spring Middle School, 4880 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24018.

Question Set
The tournament will be a mirror of SCOP Novice 10, which was graciously provided by Kristen Strey and company.

Special Information
Since this tournament is being held the weekend before Halloween, we would like to extend the invitation for students, teams, and/ or coaches to dress in costumes to have a little fun with the tournament.

Registration
In order to register for this tournament, please contact Jennifer Sprouse via email at ([email protected]) or reply to this topic with coach's contact information, including a phone number where the coach can be reached on the day of the tournament, the number of teams, and any expected discounts. On the day of the tournament, registration will begin at 8:30, and matches will be starting at 9:00.

Fees
-The fee structure is as follows:
Base fee: $70 for the first team, and $60 for any additional teams. There is no limit to the number of teams who can attend from one school.
Buzzer discount: $5 off school's total fee for each fully functional system (control box and eight activators all work; max of 2 buzzer systems)
Travel discount: $15 off school's total fee if you have to travel more than 150 miles as determined by Google Maps.
Experienced Moderator discount: $10 per moderator
Minimum fee: $35

Team Size and Eligibility
Teams are limited to six players, and only four can play at any one time. If a school wishes to field more than six players, they must register an additional team. Our only restriction is that players who have participated in HSNCT or PACE NSC must apply to play. We will most likely be lenient on the whole if we believe players can benefit from the tournament.

Format
Our field cap is 18 teams but we reserve the right to expand the field should we find enough moderators. We are going to guarantee ten rounds of competition for everyone, at least. Trophies will be given to the top three teams and we usually award the top ten individuals with some sort of prize. Neg King/Queen award is also available.

FOOD:
We will provide a simple breakfast, free of charge. We plan to provide a simple lunch consisting of pizza, fruit, chips and a drink for lunch at a reasonable price.

Please feel free to contact Jennifer Sprouse ([email protected]) with any questions regarding the tournament.
