LIFT (Long Island Fall Tournament) XIX will be held on November 9, 2019 at Kellenberg Memorial High School, Uniondale, NY.

Information concerning LIFT XIX:

- $80.00 First team, $70.00 each additional team. Checks should be made out to "Kellenberg Memorial High School."
- Discounts: $10.00/buzzer system, $15.00/scorekeeper, $25.00/reader, $10.00 if traveled 100 miles or greater (based on Google maps from town to Uniondale, NY): minimum payment per team: $50.00
- NAQT IS-188 (20/20 untimed) No comp math toss-ups, Yes comp math bonuses.
-We will have prelim. brackets, ranked playoff brackets and then crossover games.
-We are tentatively setting a limit of 24 teams, and a tentative maximum of 3 teams/school. The field cap is notably smaller than previous years, and this is due to our uncertainty of our ability to effectively moderate 36 teams. We will happily expand the field if teams sign up readers (not scorekeepers, readers!!) and to encourage this, we have increased the discounts respectively. So please sign up readers so we can have our usual 36 teams!
- Bagels, juice and coffee will be provided.
- Location: Kellenberg Memorial HS located at 1400 Glenn Curtiss Blvd, Uniondale, NY 11553, on Long Island, 30 miles E of NYC, right off of Exit M4 West on the Meadowbrook Parkway. Recommendation: Those coming from outside the NYC area should NOT go through the city.
- Registration is from 7:30 to 8:30 AM, with the first round starting at 8:45 AM. The last game should end around 6:00 PM.

You can register by posting here or by email to [email protected] (Aidan York, club president) and/or to [email protected] (Victor Louie, vice president). Please include # of teams, # of buzzers, # of scorekeepers/readers, an email address and a cell phone # so that we can easily contact you. Feel free to email us with any questions.

Thank you! We look forward to seeing you on November 9th at Kellenberg.

Good news! "Congratulations! PACE (the Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence) has designated your tournament, LIFT XIX, as a gold NSC qualifier. This means that the top 20% of teams in your tournament (rounded up to the nearest integer) will qualify for our national high school quizbowl championship, the PACE NSC on the weekend of June 6-7 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare outside of Chicago."

Keep the registrations coming!

Our initial field of 24 is full! A field expansion is likely if enough teams demonstrate interest, and even more likely if more moderators sign up. Teams that register for now will be put on a waitlist until any expansion happens.

Additionally, if any team is bringing a different number of teams, buzzers, or moderators than listed above, please let Aidan York or Victor Louie know via email or by posting here. Thank you! We are looking forward to another great LIFT!

23 teams showed up, and then High Tech came through with a D team to cover the last spot!

The Championship came down to the last round of the day and the game between East Brunswick A and High Tech A. Coming into the game, E. Brunswick had a 6-0 record in the top playoff bracket with a 390 PPG while High Tech was 5-1 with a 399 PPG. It came down to who won and by how much. E. Brunswick had 8 powers, 1 toss-up and no negs. High Tech - 8 powers, 3 toss-ups and 1 neg. Final score: High Tech 415 East Bruns 310. High Tech wins, and covers the spread to take the Championship!

And then we had to deal with a 5 way tie (all 3-4) for the 3rd and 4th place trophy!

1st: High Tech A (6-1, 401 PPG)
2nd: East Brunswick (6-1, 379 PPG)
3rd: WT Clarke (3-4, 318 PPG)
4th: Dalton (3-4, 310 PPG)
5th: Mather A (3-4, 301 PPG)
6th: Seton Hall A (3-4, 273 PPG)
7th: Wheatley (3-4, 264 PPG)
8th: High Tech B (1-6, 209 PPG)

Thank you to all the schools that participated. Stats are up. (The Combined Stats only counts the Carryover game once.)
(As of 11/13 some Stats have been corrected and updated.)

UPDATE: More corrections have been made to the Stat reports. We are done now.
