Groger Ranks is pleased to announce that we will be hosting an online discord mirror of ILLIAC for high school teams. ILLIAC is a set aiming to mirror the difficulties of MUT, EMT, and SMT in the past few years and will be good preparation for any team aiming to attend a nationals tournament, or just any team that wants to have fun playing a well-written set at a higher difficulty! More details can be found here: http://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic. ... 09&t=22131

This tournament will be closed to high schoolers, so only high schoolers can play and they can only play for their normal school affiliations. If any high schoolers would like to form a chimera team, they must first get permission from the editors of ILLIAC. The tentative field cap is 8 teams. If we exceed this number, we will definitely increase the field. If we fail to meet the team cap in a month or so, we will consider opening this field up to college teams as well although the plan remains to keep this an hs-only mirror.

On that note, as this is an online tournament, it will not provide the same experience as an in-person mirror. For any teams with in-person mirrors nearby, as of now in Georgia, Illinois, and Texas with Texas Invitational, we strongly urge that they consider attending those instead. This online mirror is meant mostly for teams that don't have mirrors nearby or have other conflicts on the day of their nearest mirror.

As of now, the date for the online mirror will be on April 21, 2019. The fee to play will be $60 per team.

The link to register can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

*This post was edited to note the date change from April 20 to April 21.

I forgot to include the JHU mirror I believe above and Bard has also announced a mirror. Currently our field is at 6 out of 8 teams, but that includes a lot of incomplete and tentative teams, so we would still like more signups to make sure this mirror is feasible enough to run. As stated above, we encourage everyone to first try to attend in person sites and only if they can't to then look into the online mirror.

In response to other questions, yes we will be allowing pseudonyms for people who think they may run afoul of school rules by using their actual school name, as long as they only play with other students at their school. Meanwhile all the interested teams who have tentatively signed up have marked their preference for April 20, so any teams that sign up now should expect that to be the date.

The final field cap will be 12 teams. Currently 7 teams are registered though 5 of these teams are either solo or tentative so the number very well may dwindle. We’d like to encourage all teams who plan on playing nationals and don’t have a nearby ILLIAC mirror to consider playing online!

The date for ILLIAC Online has been pushed ahead to Sunday, April 21 due to holidays, other tournaments, and other commitments that would have led to our field dwindling by even more. We have contacted every registered team to make sure they are fine with it before we made this date change. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We are still looking for teams to fill up the field, so don't hesitate in signing up!

EDIT: The new day is April 21

A series of mishaps which would've seen our field dwindle by even more and our pool of staffers basically non-existent has led us to face the decision of cancelling the mirror, running it with virtually no staffers with a small field, or making a second date change, this time on Easter, a time which is sure to have conflicts. We have reached out to every registered team, and all but one have confirmed they would be able to make the new day, and we expect to get new teams that could not make it on the 14th. So for the final time we are switching the day, to April 21. This is unfortunate, we realize, and if we ever run another tournament, we will do everything within our power to make sure that it does not have the same amount of scheduling fiascos as this tournament has had. With that being said, ILLIAC Online's final date is April 21, 2019. If we can not get a field for that mirror, or other events end up decimating the field, then we will cancel the mirror.

Congratulations to Change Team Name to Real Name for winning ILLIAC Online (powered by Groger Ranks). They defeated Overrated (not top 8) in the first game of advantaged finals, with Allderburn finishing third place. Prelims and playoffs w/crossover but w/o finals stats are posted and combined stats should be up in the coming days.
