ATHENA II @ Lexington HS 3/23/19

Lexington High School's Quizbowl club is delighted to announce ATHENA II, to be held at Lexington High School in Lexington, MA on March 23rd, 2019.

The field cap for this tournament at the moment is 12 teams. Each team may have up to six players. If we meet our field cap, a waitlist will be created. All teams will play five preliminary rounds before lunch. After lunch, teams will be rebracketed into championship and consolation pools, in which they will play more rounds against teams of similar skill levels for their final placement.

To register, please email [email protected] or respond to this post with the number of teams you intend to bring, the number of buzzer sets you intend to bring, and if you intend to bring an experienced staffer; as well as with any questions about this tournament. Please include the phone number and email of a team contact (coach or player), as well as if your staffer would be able to bring their own laptop.

This tournament will run on regular quizbowl rules. Teams of 4 with up to 2 substitutes, 20 tossups per untimed round with bonuses, 5 point negs, 15 point powers, no computational math questions.

ATHENA II will take place at Lexington High School, which is at 251 Waltham Street in Lexington, MA. Tournament registration will run from 8:15 until 8:45, and we aim to begin rounds at 9:00 AM. Teams will play five rounds before lunch, and five rounds after lunch plus a final. Play should conclude around 5:00 PM. Staff lunch is free. Team pizza orders may be taken at the time of registration ($20 per pizza) Snacks and water will available at additional cost in the control room. Lexington center is also 5 minute walk away and boasts plenty of convenient lunch options.

The fees for ATHENA II are as follows:
$70 per team
-$10 experienced staffer discount (max 1 per school)
-$5 functional buzzer set discount (max 2 per school)
Minimum Fee: $50
Note that all discounts are from the overall cost, not per team.

ATHENA II is now less than two weeks away. We'd really like to see as many teams as possible sign up, especially those that couldn't make it to LIVMIT!

Due to the snow on March 2nd ATHENA II is rescheduled for March 23rd. Registration is now open and priority will be given to teams who were registered before. Hope to see you there!
