We have had to cancel the Heritage Tournament for February 2006. Does anyone know of any varsity tournaments scheduled for February?

I know that Georgia Tech was looking at Feb. 25 for their high school invitational. That's actually the only tournament in Feb. that I have done on our schedule.

Yeah. ASFA is usually a well run tourney. We've attended the past 5 or 6 years. Won atleast 3 of those.

Yeah, I was about to post an announcement for our tournament, actually...

DJ, do you guys usually get any metro-Atlanta schools there?

No, last year we just had schools from all around Alabama.

I also have possible Woodward Academy date down as February 25, for metro Atlanta teams. Not sure if that's still the case or not.

Taylor County High School in Perry, Florida will be hosting their annual tournament on February 4. Perry is about 51 miles southeast of Tallahassee, Florida.

Hrm, the 4 or 5 Georgia coaches that registered for our original fall date said they didn't anticipate any conflicts on the 25th. Their date also isn't on the website, but that tournament actually is a go I'd rather not step on anyone's toes.

I guess while I'm at it I'll mention the April 15th date I was considering, but it seemed like there was a dearth of tournaments in Febuary and wanted to do something I could sorta pitch as a warm-up for GATA State.

I will try contacting Ms. Muir at Woodward to confirm.

The word from Woodward Academy :

Yes, February 25th is the date scheduled for our tournament. However, as of yesterday, there is a chance that 'our' tournament may become the new GISA tournament date. I am waiting to hear from the original host of the GISA tournament to see if that change will happen. I will notify our regular tournament attendees of this when I know for sure.

I've decided to go with our April date. An announcement will be coming within the week.

The date will probably be April 15th, unless I'm stepping on someone's toes again. (Most Georgia tournaments are before this date, though. I'm hoping that this doesn't make it difficuilt to get teams, though.)

In Alabama, this may conflict with Snead State, but I mean, Snead's close to where you are, it's on Friday, and, well our questions will be more than a sentence long.

In defense of Snead - which is actually holding their tournament on March 31 - they have started using NAQT questions for their tournaments. They hosted two tournaments last year, and those were two of the best tournaments of the year.

However, that date does conflict with the Alabama NAQT State Championship. I just found out yesterday that it will be held on April 15.

I hate that we'll miss your tournament, as I'm pretty sure that it would be a good one. Also, one of our A-teamers is interested in coming to Ga. Tech (he's only a sophomore now, though...) Anyway, maybe we can work it out for next year.

Thanks. I hope you have a good tournament.

Lee,

Do you know where Alabama NAQT State is going to be held and who to contact for it?

It's going to be at Marion Military Institute. Contact is Curtis Meisenheimer.
