Green Eggs and Hammond Tournament (Columbia, Maryland)

Post by tinismile89 »

Hammond High School will be hosting it's 7th annual Green Eggs and Hammond Tournament on January 7, 2006.

The tournament will consist of house written questions in 6 non-alternating rounds. Question sets will be available for purchase for $15 for this year's questions and $10 for previous year's questions. The cost is $40 for the first team entering and $35 for each additional team with a $10 discount for each working buzzer system.

To register for this tournament, you can contact Mr. Bob Jenkins at [email protected] in an email containing the coach's full name, email address, school phone number, number of teams, team captains names, and the number of buzzer systems you plan on bringing.

Additional information for this tournament can be found at http://www.hammondhs.org/teachers/jenkins/tourney.htm

Each game will consist of 4 rounds. The first round will be a competitive category round with 10 questions, begins with some letter, something like that. The second round will be a competitive round of 10 tossups. The third round consists of two categories, each category of 10 questions is broken up into two sets of 5. Each team gets 5 questions from each category and has the chance to answer them without buzzing in. The final round is a grab bag consisting of 15 questions.

Congratulations to Richard Montgomery for winning the Green Eggs and Hammond tournament for the fourth year in a row. Congratulations also to their challengers, the team from Dematha, who put up an amazing battle against RM.

In the consolation round, Centennial A defeated Whitman A.

Thanks to all of the teams that showed up. Further playoff and preliminary round results can be found on the Hammond It's Academic website.

Thanks to all the teams for their excellent competition. Also thanks to Tini and Alyssa for their management of this year's tournament.

One correction from above: RM held on for their three-peat.

Details at http://www.hammondhs.org/teachers/jenkins/tourney.htm

See many of you again on March 25 for the Maryland NAQT state championships.

Cheers,
