The Quizbowl Resource Center

Cookeville High School (Cookeville, TN) is excited to host a mirror of this year's Prison Bowl. The tournament will take place on Saturday, May 12th, 2018. We're located at 2335 N. We are starting with soft field cap of 24 teams. We will consider expanding to a larger field if there is interest. For now, we are starting with a limit of three teams per school.

Fee Structure:

$70 for the first team registering from a school
$65 for each subsequent team
-$5 for a working buzzer system (limit 1 per team)
-$5 for an experienced adult reader (limit 1 per team)
-$5 for each 100 miles traveled one way

Format

We'll be using the Prison Bowl XI set. We will use untimed rounds consisting of 20 tossups with 20 three-part, 30-point bonuses. There will be powers (15) and negs (-5). We will have bracketed round-robin preliminary rounds and re-bracketed round-robin playoff rounds (exact details of which to be determined later). Teams can expect 7 rounds at a minimum. There will be prizes for top teams and (hopefully!) individuals.

Registration will take place from 8:00 - 8:45 (CST). We will begin the first round at 9:00. We will try to be done by 5:00.

As for now, we will not provide lunch, but there are plenty of dining options within 5-10 minutes of the school. We can provide a list of hotels for teams who will need to stay overnight.

This is awesome! As a long time player of the Middle TN circuit, I'm really excited about a team trying to bring standard quizbowl practices back to the region. Look forward to attending!

We need four more teams by May 2nd to host the tournament and have the capacity for several more.

Prison Bowl update: We are roughly one month away from game time, and we currently have 8 teams registered. We'd like to have a minimum of 12, but there's still plenty of time to register. We will probably cap it at 16-18 teams, depending on our buzzer situation. Finish the year with one last tournament OR tune-up for nationals!

Are official stats going to be kept and reported somewhere?

Team stats will be kept, but not individual stats.

Whenever I try to submit the google form it has me in edit form, not allowing me to submit the form. However, Oak Ridge will bring 1 team if the tournament is held.

Due to lack of interest, Prison Bowl Mirror @ Cookeville HS has been canceled. We thank the teams for their interest and hope to host another tournament in the fall.
