I'm glad to announce the return of the Goldenrod Cup for the 2017-18 school year! Jason Thompson will be providing updates on the standings throughout the year, and I'll be maintaining the schedule. If you are planning to host a quizbowl tournament in Kentucky this year and want to be part of the Goldenrod Cup schedule, send me an email or PM.

As always, the KQBA is willing to help folks host a tournament even if they've never done it before and would like some advice. Feel free to reach out, we'd love to see a record number of quizbowl tournaments in Kentucky again this year!

A quick update on the Fleming County Academic Tournament.

With the VHSL contract transferring to NAQT the FCAT HSAPQ questions will not be available for our tournament. We have, thus, been assigned NAQT's IS 170. The set will be formatted to fit what the FCAT has done in the past with two halves of 18 toss up questions and single part bonuses.

the current field:
Fleming Co. x2
P.L. Dunbar x4
Johnson Central x2
Simon Kenton x2
Campbell Co. x2
Danville x1
Woodford Co. x3

by my count that is 16 of our 32 team cap.

FCAT XX field update. WE currently have 31 teams, with a 32 team cap. The tournament will use IS 170 modified slightly to fit our previous format (18 toss ups per half with single part bounce back bonus). Everyone is guaranteed at least 6 games. We will use morning round robin to set seeded pools for the afternoon section, and anticipate 20 teams in the varsity field, with the rest playing in a "B" division. We also hope to seek PACE affiliation again.

Here's the current field:
Johnson Central x2
Simon Kenton x2
Dunbar x4
Campbell Co. x2
Danville x1
Fleming Co. x2
Woodford Co. x3
Rowan Co. x2
Henderson Co. x1
Ashland x2
Sacred Heart x1
St. Patrick x1
Ballard x1
Pulaski Co. x1
Sheldon Clark x2
Raceland x1
Paintsville x1
Bishop Brossart x1
Daviess co. x1

Congratulations to Dunbar High School, the 2018 Fleming County Academic Tournament Champion. They defeated Henderson Co. in the championship match. Woodford County A took third place by defeating Raceland. Despite the frigid temperatures we still had 26 teams brave the conditions to make their way to FCHS. Thanks to all for a successful tournament.

Are there any tournaments being planned that aren’t in the schedule in the first post of this thread?

The Louisville Spring Academic Tournament has been moved to Sunday, April 8. We had a conflict with our originally planned date. The tournament will be on NAQT IS-172. We hope to see plenty of teams in attendance!
