Darien Invitational II (11/12/16, IS 161-A)

The Darien High School Quiz Bowl Team is pleased to invite your school to compete at Darien Invitational II, which will be held on Saturday November 12, 2016 at Darien High School. The tournament will use an NAQT IS-A question set. Unlike last year, we will not be doing a division split.
The tournament will use NAQT's IS-161A question set. A-series questions will be somewhat shorter and slightly easier than those of an NAQT IS set. We will be using NAQT rules, though games will consist of two untimed 10 tossup (with corresponding bonuses) halves and we will not be using computational math questions.
The top 15% of teams will qualify for the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament, to be held in Atlanta over Memorial Day weekend. This tournament will also serve as a qualifier for the PACE National Scholastic Championship, which will be held in Chicago the first weekend of June.
The fee structure for this tournament is $75 for the first team and $70 for each additional team, with a $5 discount for a working buzzer system and a $10 discount for providing a moderator. To register, please email us at [email protected] with the number of teams, buzzers, and moderators you will be bringing.
The tournament will run from approximately 8:45 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. We plan on providing bagels and orange juice again for teams looking for a quick breakfast or just another bite to eat. Teams will have the opportunity to purchase pizzas at lunch.
We are setting an initial field cap of 20 teams, though we aim to raise the cap if we have enough staff.
If you have any questions regarding the tournament, please contact us at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you in November!
