Hello world!
My name is Ben Sheppard, and I am the University of Pittsburgh's Quiz Bowl President. I am very excited to announce that we will be hosting our annual fall tournament, Sagacity XII, which will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016! It is strongly encouraged to register early, as space for this tournament is limited. The final deadline for registration is Saturday, November 5 (one week before the tournament date).
PLEASE NOTE: The packet we will be using for this tournament is the IS-161A. Please make sure that you will not be scheduled for any other tournaments using the same packet.
The fee structure is as follows: $70 for the first team from a school, $60 for the second team, $50 for the third team; $10 off your total fee for each working buzzer system brought; $10 off for each team from a school that has never attended a Pitt tournament before; $10 off per moderator brought to assist with the tournament; and $10 off your total fee for traveling over 200 miles to attend. Copies of the tournament questions will be available for $20. Registration by response to this e-mail address is preferred.

SECOND VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Additionally, Pitt this year is enforcing a policy of having individuals with clearances present at this event (just present, they don't have to be moderators) since minors attend this tournament. The policy is that we are allowed to have 10 minors present for every individual that has clearances. Additionally, we need to be able to file our paperwork regarding this rule 30 days in advance of the tournament. Therefore, the amount of space for teams will depend on how many individuals with clearances we have. We will have some of our volunteers with clearances, but we will need additional individuals (some of you, the coaches) to send us your clearances so that we can ensure we have enough availability for all teams. The required clearances are 1) Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, 2) Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance, and 3) FBI Criminal Record Check (I believe the FBI clearance is only needed if you haven't been a Pennsylvania resident for the past 10 years, but if you have this, please send it as well). If you are registering for this tournament and have them, please send me copies of these clearances ASAP, since we will need to have them filed in early October. Teachers in PA should already have all of these clearances.
If you do not have these clearances (i.e. your school is not in PA), you may still register for the tournament. We will accept teams on a first to respond basis while maintaining whatever student cap we have based on available individuals with clearances.
