BASQT II - Hackensack, NJ - March 5th

Post by Thaumatibis gigantea »

Bergen County Academies Quiz Bowl is pleased to announce that we will be hosting BASQT II, a high school-tournament on Saturday, March 5th, 2016.

Bergen Academies Spring Quiz Tournament 2016

Questions: We will be using the first ever BASQT set, edited and written by members of the Bergen County Academies Quizbowl Team. This set is intended to be regular difficulty, and includes 14 packets each with a spare tossup and bonus. If you are interested in mirroring this set, please see this thread for details.

Tournament Format: Our tournament format will depend on the number of teams, but we anticipate using a two-stage group system, and guaranteeing all teams that stay to the tournament's conclusion at least 9 games.

Games will be played on PACE-NSC format; that is, they will use 20-point powers, no -5's, and bounceback bonuses. Despite the absence of negs, there will be book prizes for top scorers and a "neg" prize for the most interrupts.

Nationals Qualifications: The top 25% of teams will qualify for the PACE-NSC, June 4th and 5th in Chicago.

Registration: We will use the following fee structure:
$70 for first team / $60 for each additional team
-$5 for each working buzzer system (limit 2 unless authorization given for more)
-$10 for each experienced staffer (subject to TD approval)
Minimum fee per team: $30

Please sign up at this link.
Until we are certain we have staff and buzzers to accommodate more, our field cap is 32.

Further logistics to be posted as the date approaches and field fills.

If you have any questions, feel free to post in this thread, or email me at [email protected].

Our apologies for the delay. Registration is now open. In order to accommodate as many schools as possible, only the first two teams from a school are guaranteed a place in the field. Further teams will be placed on a wait-list. Please feel free to contact me via PM with any questions.

Umm I'm pretty sure that East Babylon should be North Babylon. It could've been my mistake when filling out the form.

With 17 teams now in the field, I just wanted to post a reminder for teams to register. If you would like to attend this year's BASQT, please register by Saturday, February 27th so we have ample time to determine the schedule.

Hello-

I think Ithaca will have to decrease our number of teams to 2 instead of 3. Thank you.

Our field has been roughly cut in half over the last 3-4 days. If anyone else is planning to cancel, please do so soon.
