It is a pleasure to announce that Georgetown University will be hosting the inaugural Georgetown Invitational on October 31, 2015. The tournament will be hosted on NAQT’s IS-148 question set and computational math tossups will be removed. The top 15% of the field will qualify for NAQT’s High School National Championship Tournament. In addition, the tournament has been certified as a PACE Platinum Qualifier, meaning that the top 25% of the field will qualify for PACE's National Scholastic Championship.

Location: The tournament will be hosted on the campus of Georgetown University, in the Edward B. Bunn Intercultural Center (commonly known as the ICC for short.) Registration will begin at 8:00 am outside of room ICC 115. The opening meeting will be held in that room at 8:45, and then we expect round 1 to start at 9:00 am. Parking is available for free on weekends in the Southwest Garage. A map of campus is available at maps.georgetown.edu.

Fees
Base fee: $70 per team
Working buzzer system discount: -$5
Experienced staffer discount: -$10
Travel discount: -$10 (over 150 miles each way)
Minimum fee: $45

Registration
To register, please send an email to [email protected] with the number of teams, working buzzers, and experienced moderators you plan on bringing, and if you will be using the travel discount. Please also provide the name and telephone number of a contact for the team. Please pay either in advance or on the day of the tournament. We will be accepting cash and check (if you choose check, please make it out to “Georgetown University Quiz Bowl.”)

Format: The format will vary depending on the number of teams that register. We have a soft cap of 20 teams, but may adjust if we have sufficient resources and demand.

Team Size: Up to 6 players can be on each team’s roster, up to 4 of whom can play at one time. Substitutions are allowed at halftime and between games and players can only play for one team throughout the day.

Food: There are plenty of dining options on campus, including Leo O’Donovan dining hall, Epicurean and Company, and the Leavey Center (has a Subway, Cosi, Starbucks, Elevation Burger, and Salad Creations.)

P.S. Since this tournament is on Halloween, you are welcome, but absolutely not required, to dress up in costume.

We're happy to welcome four teams from Centennial High School to go with the two from Wilmington Charter and one from Longfellow Middle School. We're also looking for more teams to join us and we are still taking registrations.
