The University at Buffalo Academic Bowl team will be hosting its annual high school tournament, Bull Bowl 15, on Saturday, October 17, 2015. I, Jonathan Folmsbee, will serve as tournament director, with the assistance of Jon Przybyla.

Set:
We will use NAQT IS-148. An explanation of NAQT's expectations of teams and hosts vis-a-vis question security can be found here: http://www.naqt.com/security-responsibility.html

Location:
We'll be on UB's North Campus in Amherst, NY. Tournament HQ is TBD, but we suggest parking in Fronczak Lot or any of the Governors Lots.

Field Limit:
24 teams total
Maximum 2 teams per school, until a week before the tournament. Schools will be permitted to add a third team at that time.

Fees:
Base Fee: $65 for first team, $55 for each additional team
Buzzer Discount: -$5 per fully-functional system
Experienced Reader Discount: -$10
Staff Discount: -$5
Distance Discount: -$5/150 miles, one way, by Google Maps
International Discount: -$5
New School Discount (hasn't competed at UBuffalo before August 2014): -$5

Staffers and readers can be anyone, but they will be bound to a room and therefore will be unable to follow their team around. If a team wishes to bring two coaches who switch off reading or scorekeeping duties, this will be permitted, providing that it does not interfere with the tournament running smoothly.

Interest should be directed to Jonathan Folmsbee (jwfolmsb [AT] buffalo [DOT] edu).

Current Field:
Northmont HS: 1 team
DCC HS: 1 team
Amherst: 2 teams
Pioneer: 1 team
Solon HS: 1 team

National Tournament Qualification Details:
The top 15% of teams will qualify for NAQT's High School National Championship Tournament. For a full field of 24 teams, the top 4 teams will qualify.

In past years, Bull Bowl has been certified as a Platinum Affiliated Tournament by the Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence, and we expect to be Platinum certified again this year. What this means is that the top 25% of teams will qualify for the National Championship Tournament. For a field of 24 teams, the top 6 teams will qualify.
