My teams did the KMO for many years, from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s. At some point I realized I was MAKING them do it and they did not care for it at all. We have more competitions than we can attend to anyway, so stopping the KMO ended up not being a big deal for us.

I had not thought about it for a few years until I saw this post.

I think it's just Adobe Acrobat sucking. I finally dumped it for some random freeware pdf reader a few weeks ago, and I no longer have to wait 30948320948 hours to load one.

What are the general thoughts on why KMO has dropping particpation?

We love the KMO. We enjoy the whole team working together rather than against each other. I order pizza and drinks we have fun. I enjoy how the team encourages their quiz mates. The format allows some of the not-as-strong-players to answer/concur more often than buzzer formats. There are many positives aspects of "The Great Auk"

Sadly we did not play that well this match we should have easily scored in the 1600's. Overall given the understandable American focus of many of the questions, we are pleased. See you at the Chicago tournaments!

Yes, we are coming in from Shanghai. Some of you may have read the "Newbie team needs help" topic, that would be us. We will be at NAQT and Questions Unlimited. We have done fairly well at the KMO. So we thought we would try this out. Both tournament directors were kind enough to let us play. We are inexperienced and young-but not bad. Having two tournaments in Chicago helped me and the parents persuade the principal. Plus the direct flight, albeit a long one, to Chicago makes things easier. I just hope the jet lag does not kill us.
