IHSSBCA Kickoff at Fenwick High School, 11-22-14

Post by Colby Burnett »

Fenwick will be hosting a site of the Illinois High School Scholastic Bowl Coaches Association Kickoff tournament.

Date: Saturday, November 22, 2014. This is the Saturday immediately preceding Thanksgiving.

Location: Fenwick High School, 505 Washington Boulevard, Oak Park, IL

Eligibility: Teams of players who all attend a single high school are eligible to attend. For each school that enters a team, at least one person affiliated with that team must join the IHSSBCA, but one affiliated person being a member is sufficient to register multiple teams. Teams from out of state are welcome (but still must have an affiliated person join IHSSBCA).

Questions: NAQT Invitational Series #140

Structure: The field limit is 16; every team will play at least seven matches.

Rules: The tournament will use IHSSBCA rules. In brief: 5-on-5, powers, no negs, rebounding bonuses, tossup-bonus-cycle tiebreakers, roster cap of 8.

Money: The base fee is $55 for the first team from each school, and $50 for each subsequent team. There are no discounts, but teams are expected to bring whatever functional buzzer systems they have available, and are implored to provide any staffers they are able (even if it is necessary that the staffer stay with the team he or she coaches). All checks are to be made out to Fenwick High School Scholastic Bowl , and payment must be received at or before the tournament. If financial issues stand between your team and attending this tournament, contact me to discuss possible arrangements.

Qualification: The top teams from Illinois at this tournament will qualify for the NAQT State Championship Tournament, whose date and location will be announced soon. The top teams from any state will qualify for the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament, which will be held May 29–31 in Rosemont. The top teams from schools meeting NAQT's definition of small schools will qualify for the NAQT Small School National Championship Tournament, which will be held in April in Atlanta.

Registration: Registration is through NAQT's website. You must register an account with NAQT in order to register.
