I've started a preview for next season with the 200 teams I had ranked pre-nationals. You can find the first edition here.

If you're really doing roster analysis for 170+ schools, that damn you get a standing ovation on top of the standing ovations you already deserve.

Trust me when I say we're not in any particular hurry to finish this up.

Edit: I'll note that if you know of a top 200 team's situation with regards to returning players, please feel free to email me at [email protected]. Please be sure that your information is correct.

Part three is up at http://hsqbrank.com/2014/06/10/2014-15- ... art-three/.

When I get a chance, I'll be able to write up the next batch since I've already found out who's returning for those players.

Two teams I currently specifically need help with are Palo Alto (I'm not sure if Nick and/or Alex are returning) and Brookwood (Kaushik De in this case).

Palo Alto returns the entire team next year.

Thank you!

I'm having a hard time finding info on Livingston from New Jersey. Can anyone help?

I'm pretty sure Livingston loses their two top scorers, David Song and Chris Tseng.

Livingston's A-team next year will (likely) consist of Nathan Chow, Shira Li, Sora Nithikasem, and Geoff Tseng. They were extremely balanced while playing together at NJ States and also had nice bonus conversion. They're planning to study over the summer, so they'll hopefully/probably improve.

Indeed, to echo David, Livingston is losing 3 out of 4 from its A team and likely will be weaker in some areas of strength from last year but will likely be stronger in others and definitely more balanced than this past year. The Livingston "B" team that, in May, placed 11th at NJ states (http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournament ... etail/#t12) and most of whom were on the "B" team that went 5-5 at HSNCT, likely will reflect next year's "A" team, barring any surprises. Depending on how much they study, they should improve though it will be difficult to replace two excellent, experienced players like David and Chris.

Sure, but I think a thing that I should probably specify is that I'm working on this with the frame of reference of "I am trying to come up with a preseason list of the 50 best teams for next year, as reasonably accurate as possible." I've got a few emails along these lines already, and I'm kind of just trying to head this off at the pass: when I say your team is headed "down" that means "as of now, you might not have as strong of an aPPB as you did this year," not "your team is already doomed to failure because the oracle has said so."

Okay, I think I'm down to my (mostly) last batch of players I need help with:

Lee from Hallsville
Adam Beyer from NCSSM
Jared Taylor from Early College at Guilford
Everyone from State College, and if they rotated pseudonyms at Penn QuAC
Everyone from Walter Johnson, and if they rotated pseudonyms at Richard Montgomery BELLOCO

Lee from Hallsville has graduated.

Walter Johnson loses everyone except for Tommy, I believe, and they did in fact use pseudonyms at our tournament (their highest two scorers were Sameen and Nathan, just as they were everywhere else, and both are leaving).

So they did not rotate pseudonyms?

I am not sure about the other players, but according to this it looks like Sicong has graduated, and I know Joseph is returning from State College.

No they didn't rotate, sorry I didn't make that clear.

Is there a reason that the 161st team was not included in that post?

#161 was Santa Monica B, and in general Fred holding off on discussing the B teams until he reaches the A team's place in the rankings.

So all of your team from Vandy ABC graduated?

In other news: Why does a high school need a branch office of a credit union?!

Hey, we've got one of those!

Also, the Wikipedia notes are wonderful and I hope you continue them (though if they take too much time or whatever, then obviously don't worry).

Who are these branches for?! The school employees? Do students actually use them? Do high school students commonly have banking accounts these days? Do you not just whine to your parents for a $20 like every kid did back in my high school? I'm so befuddled by the credit unions.

Also, the Wikipedia notes are going to be needed for me to put any variety in these, because I fear I'm already boring. And I'm not even half done yet.

It's run by students in the marketing program, but I've never heard of anyone actually using it, even though it's aimed at students.

Yeah this sporadically common from what limited information I have on the subject. I think the idea is to teach high school students the responsibility of managing their own financial affairs before they graduate and enter the real world unprepared. It's probably not all that successful, but it seems like a decent idea in theory.

I remember Phoenixville Area High School has one too. It's possible to join the Howard County Education Association Credit Union (teacher's union credit union) if you are a student, but I don't know of anyone who has.

Or whine to your parents for $800 to attend HSNCT because the school wouldn't pay any of it...

I think I would have benefited from this! Now I'm older, I wish I knew how money worked.

Are you going to add wikipedia tidbits to the schools that you missed earlier on? These are really cool; thanks for taking the time to do this (In addition to all the other analysis you do).

Also, Colonel By (41) will be returning their full lineup and will be a contender in the Canadian collegiate circuit next year and can probably win most closed tournaments, but will not have played enough good high school teams on easier questions come May 2015.

Never say never (I probably will end up doing NSC and HSNCT adjustments, unlike what I said earlier on up there) but I doubt I'll really have time to justify it.
