UNC Quiz Bowl is proud to announce the 14th annual Tar Heel Cup, which is being held on Saturday, September 13th, 2014.

Registration:
Tournament fees are as follows:
$75 for the first team
$60 for each subsequent team
-$5 for each buzzer set
-$10 for staff (readers or scorekeepers)
-$10 per 150 miles traveled to the tournament (one way, per Google Maps)

To register, send an e-mail to [email protected] with the name of your school, how many teams and buzzer sets you plan on bringing, and whether you have anyone willing to help staff the tournament.

Payment will be accepted on the morning of the tournament, at check-in. If you must pay in advance, note this in your e-mail and I'll provide you with a mailing address. Checks should be made out to Carolina Academic Team.

Field cap: An initial field cap will be placed at 24. If we get sufficient interest and can secure enough rooms, staff, and buzzers, we may be able to expand that number.

Location and parking: The rooms have not been confirmed yet, but the tournament will likely be held in Dey Hall. Parking is largely unrestricted on weekends, and you should be able to park in any of the nearby campus lots at no charge. Meals will not be provided, though there is no shortage of good food on Franklin Street.

If you have any further questions, please post them here or send them to [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you in September!

This hasn't been confirmed yet, but we will likely use HSAPQ's regular season set, as Tar Heel Cup traditionally has.

Dorman would like to express interest if you will indeed use the HSAPQ set. Most likely 2 teams.

With two weeks to go, we have three spots remaining in the field. Field expansion is possible, but only if there is sufficient extra demand to expand the field to another reasonable number (likely 28). Register now to ensure your place in a very strong field.

We have now reached our field cap of 24 teams. Any teams wishing to register further will be put on a waitlist until we hit 28 teams, at which point the field will be expanded.

At what time should the teams report to Dey Hall?

Teams should to report to Dey for registration by 8:45 at the latest. Round 1 will start at 9:00.

We have now reached 28 teams registered and expanded the field accordingly. Further registration will be put on a waitlist until we reach 30 teams and can secure sufficient rooms and staff.

Northmont defeated Dorman A on the last tossup in the final, 360-325. Congratulations to those two teams and DCC A, The Alex Liu Experience, DCC C, Early College of Guilford A, and Blacksburg for qualifying for NSC.

Thanks to all teams for coming! My apologies for the long delay at the beginning of the tournament; we had several readers oversleep which caused the delays. I hope the relatively smooth running of the rest of the tournament helped make up for that.

Full stats to come in a day or two.

Prelim, playoff, and combined stats are now up. The top two finishers from each prelim bracket were split into two championship brackets of 4, which each played a round-robin and then a crossover game for final placement.

Am I mistaken or are the three different links for prelim, playoffs and combined all showing the combined data?
