The Quizbowl Resource Center

Without further ado, the annual "Where will you be going to college next year?" thread for those who want to keep the community informed, or perhaps reach out to college teams reading the boards, or hear about other students who'll be attending the same school. As board staff have noted in previous years, the purpose of this thread is to give answers of the form "I am going to [insert non-hypothetical college here] and will be playing quizbowl there," etc. not to humblebrag, hem, haw, or request decision help or anything like that.

The other purpose of the thread is for people who would like to know if there is a team, who to contact if there is, etc.

I will actually be going to Indiana University and I would still like to play, but I am not sure if they have an active program.

edit: last minute college decision

I'll be attending Ohio Wesleyan. Depending on whether or not I get my license to do OHSAA basketball officiating, I'll entertain the idea of playing. Within the next few years, I intend on being able to get a club together to get some hosting for high school tournaments, and if nothing else, help spread some quiz bowl in that area and help out with a high school team.

Sweet deal. I'll have some inquiring to do, thanks for the tip Adam. It's not far from Columbus (like thirty minutes from tOSU), and I know Kenyon has an actively competing club (Gambier is an hour from Delaware), so in theory I can get some stuff going without too much struggle.

I did some snooping based on what Adam said above and found this message from 2010... I know its old but there's always that chance the guy who posted it still uses his old college address and might have some info... can't hurt to try shooting an email there or searching further:

Yeah, I remember Gabriel; he was their captain at OSU's ACF Fall '10.

I'll be attending UVA and will be tearing up the Mid-Atlantic DII circuit with dual enrollment Eric Xu.

I'll join in on this thread. I will be going to Duke University next fall, and I would be happy to keep playing quiz bowl. If anyone here could share the contact information for any of Duke's current members, I would definitely appreciate it.

I'll be attending Stanford University, and I plan to play quizbowl.

Ed Paranjpe from Bellarmine is probably going to Duke and wants to play.

Rohan Achar, who did the science for 2013 Team Ohio goes to Duke, Ryan. He may be up for some qui'ball

I'll be attending Columbia University and I will definitely be playing Quiz Bowl.

I don't have contact information for anyone currently on Duke's team (Ian Drayer, who had been their club president first semester, no longer goes to Duke), but they did have a team as of earlier this year.

Drake University in Iowa. If possible, I'll play quizbowl in college.

That's excellent; we'd love to see Drake on the circuit more.

Barring hugely extenuating circumstances, I will be going to Columbia University and plan on staying active in the quizbowl circuit.

Wellesley, and will be playing if a team exists.

I'll be at Cornell University, playing quizbowl.

I'll play QB at UCLA.

I'll be joining the quizbowl gang at UChicago.

I will be attending Yale. I plan to play, hopefully.

I guess you didn't come to Bulldog days. Other people possibly coming are Canzhi from Reagan and Roger from somewhere in Ohio.

Yeah, I didn't get to come for Bulldog days, but I was up there the weekend before. I wish I would have gotten to meet everyone!

I'll be attending Harvard, and I plan to continue playing quizbowl.

Canzhi decided to go to Berkeley.

I will be attending Duke University and will play quiz bowl there if a team is established. I want to play on a DII team.

Hopefully the University of Virginia has a spot open on its quizbowl team.

After three years in a row of only graduating 1 player, 4 of us are headed out the door this year. I'm sure there will be room for all. :)

I'll be attending the University of Texas at Dallas, and I'd be interested in playing in college. Does anyone have any information on if there actually is a club there?

I'm having some trouble finding a contact; it's not on this list of college teams: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... _web#gid=0, and the only mention I could find of them competing was this post (viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2063) about an event nine years ago. If anyone has information about the situation there or a contact I'd greatly appreciate it!

To my knowledge, UT Dallas hasn't participated in a single quizbowl event in the three years that I have been in Texas. If you do want to start a club there (you should!), there is plenty of support nearby in the form of former players and local middle/high schools.

If everyone wants to know, I will be attending the University of Oklahoma and *not* playing quizbowl. However, I will still do other things depending on my mental/emotional state and other interests (e.g. writing packets and staffing/running tournaments)

Oklahoma's one of the states where still has somewhat of a foothold; this is partly due to a lack of good quizbowl advocates in the state. Any support you could lend to outreach efforts there would be much appreciated.

Last year, I seem to remember a massive list of graduating seniors and where they were going to college being compiled. Is something similar going to manifest itself this year?

If you change your mind I will be attending OU concurrently and playing a few tournaments solo.

I will be going to Carleton next year and playing quizbowl.
