MSU March Madness

The Michigan State University Academic Competition Club is pleased to announce that we will be holding a high school tournament on March 19. 2005 on the beautiful campus of Michigan State University. We will be using unused NAQT questions from last year's series since all of this year's questions have been taken. We are aware that this is the same date as the Great Lakes Regional Academic Championship. We have not yet decided upon an entry fee, but we like to keep the cost to teams low. Last year's entry fee was $45 and it probably will be around the same this year. We will have new program and buzzer system discounts. Please email me at [email protected]

2005 MSU March Madness Invitational Tournament - Saturday March 19, 2005

Format: NAQT Unofficial Event - Untimed

Questions: NAQT IS-33 (2004)

Eligibility: Michigan high school teams. Eisenhower High School ineligible (bought 2004 IS for practice)

Team Cap: 16

Entrance Fee: $45

Discounts: $5 for a working buzzer set, maximum of 2. $5 discount for new programs (first year of competition or all-freshman team) or if it is the school's first tournament of the year. Minimum entrance fee, $30.

Tournament format: Bracket round-robin leading to single-elimination playoff. Minimum of five games regardless of number of teams entered.

Trophies: Top 4 will receive a trophy. Top 3 individual scorers will each receive a prize.

Directions will be available once we are assigned to a building.

Troy B defeated Okemos 455-185 in the finals to win the 2005 MSU March Madness Invitational Tournament. In the consolation game, White Cloud defeated East Lansing 360-195 to take third place.
