Apologies for the delay. The registration form is up now. A reminder that while you may register as many teams as you'd like at this point, only the first two teams will enter the field and the rest will be placed on a waitlist until January 15.

At what time do you estimate the tournament will be done by? I very much want my team to participate, but it's a bit of a hike and I need to know what by time we could expect to be back.

Teams from the waitlist have now been entered into the field, bumping our field up to 30 teams. There are only 6 spots left where our field cap currently stands, so I encourage schools to register promptly!

Prison Bowl has now been platinum-certified by PACE, so the top 25% of the field (top 9 with a field of 36) will qualify for PACE NSC in DC in May! There are only 4 spots left before we reach our current field cap, so I encourage interested schools to register promptly.

EDIT (3/17): 11 teams will qualify with the new field of 42.
EDIT (3/20): And we're back to a field of 36.

Can West Egg add a second mod?

EDIT: if more outside mods are needed, I think we may be able to provide another one.

The field has reached its cap of 36 teams, and additional teams will be placed on the waitlist. It's very likely that teams drop as we approach March, so I encourage schools to register and occupy a spot early in the waitlist.

As a heads-up to waitlisted teams, we're considering raising the field cap from 36 to 40 or 42 teams. In the interest of ending the tournament at a reasonable time, any expanded field format we consider would not add extra rounds. We're working on the reservations for additional rooms, and we'll keep the community posted. We expect to be able to make a decision by Sunday.

We are pleased to announce that the field cap will be raised from 36 to 42 teams. Wheatley A-C, Scarsdale, Gotham, and Bergen C are now in the field.

EDIT (3/20): Ignore the below format, it's defunct now! For our current 36-team format, see this post.

Prelims will be round-robin in 7 brackets of 6 teams. The top 12 teams from prelims by placement within bracket and then PPG will advance to the top playoff tier of 2 equal brackets of 6 teams. In other words, the top team of each bracket advances, plus 5 wildcards by PPG from the second-place teams of each bracket. The next 6 teams from prelims will become the next playoff bracket, and so on.

Playoffs will be round-robin in each bracket of 6 teams. After that, the top 2 teams in each top tier bracket will play a crossover game, which will be the 1st and 3rd place games. Subsequent final placements in the top tier will be determined by PPG.

In total, teams should expect to play 10-11 games. This format should allow us to keep our original end-time around 6:00pm in the interests of our distant friends.

I realize the format has some complexity, so please email me if you have any questions or concerns.

Hi Marianna,

If another team drops, West Egg would like to bring a 4th team.

We still have 1 spot open in the field. We're hoping not to run any byes or house teams, so let me know if you're interested in sending another team.

EDIT (3/21): Field is closed at 36, we're all set now.

Scratch my penultimate post with the convoluted format.

The field has closed at the magical number of 36, so teams can expect the following format.
Prelims: 5 games in 6 brackets of 6. The top 2 teams in each prelim bracket will qualify for the top tier of 2 brackets of 6. Subsequent teams will enter a playoff bracket of 6 with teams of the same placement, so 3rd place teams will form their own playoff bracket, 4th place teams their own playoff bracket, and so forth.
Playoffs: 5 games within brackets of 6.
Finals: The top 2 teams from each top-tier bracket will play a crossover game for 1st and 3rd place respectively.

In total, teams can expect to play 10 games until 6:00, and the top 4 teams will play 11 games until 6:45.

Prelim stats have been posted here. See Sarah's post above for playoff rebracketing.

Jack Mehr from St. Joseph's in the In Praise of Shadow Sneak bracket was our top prelim individual scorer with an astronomical 96 ppg. Our next six individual scorers were Sean McBride from High Tech with 91 ppg, Michael Wang from Mountain Lakes A with 70 ppg, Nathan Chow from Livingston B with 68 ppg, Joe Levano from Kellenberg and Chris Hillenbrand from Gotham each with 66 ppg, and Esther Sun from Ridgewood A with 65 ppg. Congrats to these players!

Is something in error here? It seems odd that a team can have 21 tossups when there were 20 TUH.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they got 11 or 12 tossups and somebody just mixed the numbers up during stats entry.

Some quick results of the crossover:
1. Charter A
2. High Tech
3. St Joseph's A
4. Charter B

We're going to fix the prelim stats tonight and tomorrow. Playoff stats will be up soon as well.

We'd rather take more time to put up more complete and accurate stats, so I've taken down the prelim stats previously posted and we're aiming to get completed stats up around midweek. Apologizes for the delay.

I'd like to remind teams that the set isn't clear until May 19, when the last mirror concludes. I encourage players to join the Prison Bowl VII private group (User Control Panel on top left > Usergroups > Prison Bowl VII) to discuss the set. If you'd like to discuss the set privately, we'd love to hear your thoughts on the set at hchsqb at gmail.

Updated prelim stats have been posted here. Please email us at hchsqb at gmail about any errors or typos. Playoff, crossover, and combined stats will be posted by midweek.

We deeply apologize to Kellenberg, which should have advanced to the top playoff tier in place of West Egg A, but was relegated to the 3rd place bracket due to a stat error in the control room.

Hi. It appears our match against West Egg is wrong. The final score according to our sheets was 570 to 100 not 360 to 100 and our ppb was definitely not 13.12 in that match. Just wanted to point that out. Not sure why that mistake is there.

Yea, the final score was 570 to 100. I have down 420 bonus points over 16 TUs for 26.25 ppb. Not sure why you guys have half of that.
