MD Quizbowl Championship -- Centennial Regional (2/22/14)

HSAPQ, in conjunction with the Maryland Quizbowl Championship Association, is pleased to announce our Maryland regional tournament at Centennial High School on Saturday, February 22, 2014! The top 4 teams from this tournament will qualify for the
Maryland Quizbowl Championship at University of Maryland, College Park on April 6.
Both the regional events and the Maryland Quizbowl Championship will use HSAPQ’s 8-8-8 format: a first and third period of 8 powermarked tossups followed by a one-part bonus read to the team which correctly answers the tossup, and a second period of 8 directed bonus parts, 4 for each team. This format is designed to provide quicker-moving games to keep new teams engaged, piquing their interest in quizbowl and drawing them to regular local events.

Centennial
Oakland Mills
Long Reach
Richard Montgomery
Howard
I am not including teams going to the College Park or Baltimore site.
I will update the roster every few days as teams sign up.
Remember only one team per school may register.
An experienced reader is also required.

When the roster is finalized, I will e-mail the participants about breakfast and lunch opportunities. We will be ordering pizza for lunch for those interested.

In the previously results, Centennial and RM should each have one more win. A photo of the results board is here:

Note the last 3 games were played in tiers of the top 4 and bottom 2. I understand that official stats are coming.

Congratulations to the four state championship qualifiers: Oakland Mills, Centennial, Richard Montgomery, and Archbishop Spalding! These four teams have been invited to the state finals at Maryland on 4/6 -- if you are the coach of one of these teams and did not receive an email update, please contact us immediately.
Full stats will be posted as soon as HSAPQ receives the scoresheets in the mail. We hope everyone enjoyed the tournament, and please email if you have any feedback about the questions or the tournament!
