FAcT IX at Yale (New Haven, CT, 10/12/13)
Posted: Sun Aug 25, 2013 4:51 pm
Yale Student Academic Competitions will be hosting our ninth annual Fall Academic Tournament (FAcT), on Yale's campus on Saturday, October 12, 2013. The tournament will use untimed rounds of 20 tossups and bonuses from NAQT's Introductory Invitational Series set (IS-131A).
In-person registration will begin at 8 A.M. with the aim of starting the opening meeting at 8:45 A.M. and the first round by 9 A.M. The tournament will take place in the Hall of Graduate Studies (HGS) on Yale's main campus (map), located at 320 York Street, New Haven, Connecticut. Teams are strongly encouraged to arrive at 7:45 A.M. to leave time to find parking--multiple other events, including the inauguration of Yale's new president, will also be occurring around the same time.
Many Yale parking lots within two to three blocks of HGS are open to the public on weekends for free, including Lots 51, 77, 78, and 78W, shown here. Street parking is also available, as is garage parking in the Grove Street and Audubon Court garages, shown here. For further information about transportation to and from the tournament, feel free to e-mail me.
Teams that finish in the top 15% of the field will automatically qualify for NAQT's 2014 HSNCT (High School National Championship Tournament), held on the weekend of May 30th in Chicago Illinois. FAcT will also be affiliated with, and will be "Gold-Certified" by, the Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence (PACE), which will allow as the top 20% of the field to qualify for this year's PACE National Scholastics Championship in Reston, Virginia, on Memorial Day weekend 2014.
