Texas Quiz Bowl Alliance is pleased to announce the third annual Texas Invitational Weekend of Quiz Bowl, to be held at Rice University in Houston on February 22-24. Teams can expect to play 30 matches over the 3 days of the event.
The Texas Invitational consists of two tournaments: Friday night and Saturday features a mirror of the 2013 NAQT SCT Division I tournament, and is open to secondary teams. On Saturday night and Sunday, college teams will join in for an ACF Regionals-level event.
If your team is interested please email romeroc-at-gmail-dot-com.
Event I: Texas Invitational ($125 entry fee)
This event, capped at 24 secondary teams, will be played as a split round robin among groups of 12. Following the first round robin, teams will be rebracketed into 4 groups of 6. A single-game final will be played if two teams are tied after a round robin. Each team will play a total of 16 games during this phase. The format may be tweaked if circumstances dictate.
Event II: Texas Invitational ($125 entry fee)
The second event is a ACF-Regionals level tournament. This event is open to both high school and college teams. Each team can expect to play at least 14 matches at this event. The format will be determined by the number of participants.
Food
Lunch and Dinner on Saturday will be included. Other meals will not be provided. There will be no formal meal breaks. We will break for about 20 minutes for quick meals. Drinks and candy will be sold at the tournament.
