Loyburn @ Loyola Academy (Wilmette, IL) 12/15/12

Post by mlaird »

Every team in the whole world is cordially invited to Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL on December 15, 2012 for this year's iteration of the Rockford Auburn/Loyola Academy co-hosted Loyburn tournament. This tournament will likely use HSAPQ's fall set for this tournament, pending final availability.

The tournament will feature 4-on-4 competition and will have both powers and negs. Depending on the competition and number of teams that we attract, we will decide on whether or not to have bouncebacks on bonuses at a later date. The tournament will consist of at least nine (probably ten) guaranteed rounds for every team at the tournament. The field cap will be at 36 teams due to staffing limitations. If you wish to staff this tournament, please know that you will be paid for your services as well as getting a free lunch.

The fees for this tournament will be as follow:

$80 for each team you bring (which includes a Lou Malnati's lunch)
-$10 for each team beyond the first
-$5 for buzzers (no max)
-$10 for a competent reader
-$10 for travel over 100 miles
If you have extenuating circumstances of any kind, email me and we can work something out.

Checks should be made out to "Loyola Academy" and sent c/o Matt Laird.

If you wish to register for this tournament, you can either post here, or you can send me an email at mlaird -at- loy -dot- org.

I don't feel comfortably comfortable to say that Carbondale will be bringing a team, though iirc it is on the schedule. In the meantime,
1. Is the discount for travel cumulative e. g. do we get $30 off?
2. Isn't the pizza place spelled with two 't's?

Field is up to 18, with 6 interested teams. I recommend getting registration in either here or via email if you want to be included in the field. I also need potential staffers to contact me. Remember, Loyola will pay you in the form of both money and pizza.

Field updated. I would like one more team to sign up and we'll have a nice, quaint, 24 team tournament. Please consider bringing your team to this!

Culver is replacing Zion-Benton for this event. We've also been Platinum Certified by PACE, meaning the top 6 teams will qualify for NSC.

Interesting to see Stevenson beating Auburn by a comfortable margin. Has that been predicted?
Also, I never realized Greg from Fenton was that good. Good for him.
Anyone want to PM me the identity of the Palatine School for Norse Children? I don't recognize the names, unlike the other two psuedonyms.

My friends from Smith School who went out to this say that they had a great time and that this tournament was well-run, as always.

Congratulations to Loyola Academy, "The Smith School for Benchwarming", IMSA A, and Stevenson A for their performance yesterday; they finished first through fourth place respectively. In addition to those four teams, Auburn A and IMSA B have also qualified for the PACE NSC this summer.

Complete statistics can be found here: prelims, playoffs, combined

A big thanks goes out to all the staffers who made yesterday as successful as it was. Thanks to Kristin Strey for keeping statistics, Nolan Winkler, Mike Perovanovic, Jeff Price, Greg Peterson, Ulysses Capistran, Greg Gauthier, Joe Promisco, Tom Egan, Alec Krueger, David Riley, Denise Kreb, for moderating all day, and to coaches Dzuricsko, Fischer, Laudermith, and Stankevitz for reading a few rounds each.

If you and your kids had a good time at this tournament, please consider signing up for Ultima XV on 1/19! We'll be using the LIST III set from Ladue, which is consistently heralded as one of the best, most accessible sets each year. That tournament will likely have two divisions, to increase the competition for all the teams in attendance.

Thanks once again for attending, and if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me!
