The Georgia Academic Team has updated the look and format of their website. Future tournaments being held in Georgia will be added in the near future. Please refer to the initial post in this thread.

The Twenty-Third Annual Dorman High School (SC) Cavalier Academic Challenge will indeed take place on January 19, 2013. We very much look forward to a strong Georgia contingent in the Palmetto State for the 23rd year in a row.

A post about our entire slate of tournaments for the 2012-2013 season, including the Cavalier Challenge, is up on the Regular-Season-Tournament-Announcements board. Please see that post for further information.

As mentioned in the calendar, NHBB Eastern Georgia will be held on October 27 at Cedar Shoals HS. January 26, 2013 will be the date for NHBB Georgia State. The site will be Ola MIDDLE School instead of the high school (I believe the buildings are adjacent). A new tournament, NHBB Southern Georgia, is scheduled for November 17 at Ware County. I'll contact Coach Payne at BHS to ask about any potential conflicts in terms of Southern GA teams attending BISB. I know that tournament is, traditionally, very large.

To my knowledge, a couple of Middle and South GA schools (Baconton Charter and Central Macon come to mind) go to Brookwood, so there may not be that much overlap.

Alpharetta HS is hosting a mirror of SCOP Novice on November 3, 2012.

Updated the GA Calendar

Today's GATA Winter tournament at Collins Hill was filled with upsets, close matches, and newer teams coming on the scene that haven't attended many tournaments in the past. Congratulations to the top four teams for their outstanding performance in an extremely deep field consisting of 48 of the top teams in Georgia!

There was a second GATA Winter tournament going on simultaneously at Bleckley County High School with 20 teams competing. Congratulations to these 4 teams as well:

(4) Warner Robins

Did GATA Winter use bouncebacks, and were those accounted for in the stats?

Bouncebacks were used and incorporated into the bonus stats.

Centennial High School hosted its second ATTACK tournament yesterday on HSAPQ 32. Etowah won the tournament after beating Norcross in a one-game final. Here are the stats.

EDIT: Bouncebacks were not used.

GATA is in need of readers for the Middle School State tournament on March 16. The tournament will be held at Dunwoody High School so it is convenient from all parts of metro Atlanta.
