To start: Yale University will again be hosting FAcT in October and BHSAT in the middle of the spring, probably a bit earlier in March or a bit later in April. As more details surface I'll keep everyone updated.

Barring anything unusual, FAcT will be on October 27 and will use an NAQT A-set.

Matt,

Seton Hall Prep is also planning to host an A-set in the fall. (September 29 pending a few final confirmations.). Have you been assigned a set as of yet? I would not want to take away from your field and I know that several teams from our region make the annual trip to Yale. Thanks!

We will certainly have multiple A-series sets available by late October, so there should be no conflict between the two tournaments.

Hey--no date yet, but we will be doing CT INV in the late winter (not to conflict with MITBAT). We'd like to run a regular IS packet. More on this later. Have a nice summer.

Mike,

The Pirate Invitational has been listed on the NY/NJ Date Claim Forum for a while, so the purpose of your request has already been accomplished on that forum. And while I CANNOT list it here on the forum where you have made this request---the New England Date Claim Forum---it seems someone else---Matt, I think---HAS listed the Pirate Open here for you.

Lyndon State College is in the planning stages for their 3rd Annual "Quest for the Nest" Quiz Bowl Tournament for Vermont/New Hampshire teams. We are looking to run a mirror of the SCOP Novice tournament set, and a couple of dates are being discussed for possible play (one in each of October/November). I'll keep this thread updated as to when, specifically, the tournament looks to be played, but there's a VERY strong likelihood this event will be taking place. We look to make this as successful of an event as the first two versions.

The Vermont-NEA Scholars' Bowl will again be running two NAQT tournaments this fall: the Sue Pasco Opening Tournament on Sept. 22 at Essex High School and the Pre-Holiday Academic Tournament on Dec. 7 (a Friday) at South Burlington High School. At least tentatively, I'm the tournament director for both events.

We also intend to hold an NAQT State Championship again this year, likely in March at Spaulding High School, but that has not yet been formalized.

NHBB is currently working with Pioneer Charter in Everett to put on a fall semester tournament on December 8. I'll update when that is finalized.

Vermont will run at Burlington and New Hampshire will run at Hanover. The most likely dates are March 16 and January 19, respectively. However, I'm waiting to hear about a potential conflict with Granite State Challenge before those dates are made final.

We do intend to run a tournament in Connecticut again. I am exploring possible hosts in Rhode Island and Maine, as well.

Update on NHBB New England tournaments:

Dec. 8 - Boston Area Regional History Bee and Bowl (C Set), Pioneer Science Charter School, Everett, MA
Feb. 9 - New Hampshire History Bee and Bowl (B Set), Hanover High School, Hanover, NH
March 9 - New England History Bee and Bowl Championships (A Set), Lexington HS, Lexington, MA
March 16 - Vermont History Bee and Bowl (C Set), Burlington High School, Burlington, VT

Still to be determined...
Massachusetts History Bee and Bowl State Championships (B Set) - likely in the Boston area in January; we have an interested host and are in the process of confirming.
Connecticut History Bee and Bowl (C Set)
also, a Maine History Bee and Bowl is not to be ruled out; we've already had a Maine team register for the Boston Area tournament on Dec. 8!

New England teams may also wish to consider our New York and New Jersey tournaments as well at which they are certainly welcome.

It's not finalized yet, but there shouldn't be any problem getting the school for that date. Unless a tournament conflict comes up, I'll try to get everything set in the next few months.

This is now confirmed. NHBB dates in the Boston area are thus Greater Boston History Bee and Bowl Dec. 8 at Pioneer Charter in Everett, Massachusetts History Bee and Bowl State Championships on Jan. 26 at Everett HS in Everett, and New England History Bee and Bowl Championships on Mar. 9 at Lexington HS in Lexington. C, B, and A set respectively. Great to see how the Boston circuit is really picking up, and we're glad to be doing what we can to foster that.

I'm hoping this thread helps keep all the information about what's happening in our region in one easily accessible place, but I get a vague impression that no one's looking at it...

Unfortunately a date conflict with the New Hampshire quizbowl league made the March date inviable, since we need a large number of New Hampshire teams to make this work. I'm sorry I left this in limbo for so long. If people are interested in a late season tournament, we can still try that. In general the local teams in northern New England seem to get a little apathetic after the beginning of April.
