I don't speak for HSAPQ and this isn't official, but I'm pretty sure it's being held in famous quizbowl location Jimenez Hall.
The last UMD listserv email I got seems to indicate that we will be playing in the only-slightly-less-famous Armory.

As will be emailed to teams shortly, the tournament location is Armory, with the meeting to be in the large lecture hall (room #/directions to be announced in the email). There is free parking on both sides of the building.

Staff should meet at 8:00 and team registration will run from 8:30 to 9:00, to be followed by a brief opening meeting and the start of gameplay.

As hinted by Matt earlier, Team Indiana will sadly not be able to attend. Next year hopefully, when I've got the full year to score the funding.

Excerpts from said e-mail are below in case anyone wishes to peruse them in public.
FORMAT:

With the final field locked at ten teams, the format will be as follows:
Rounds 1-9: Full round-robin. Top 4 teams advance to championship bracket.
Round 10: Tiebreakers for championship bracket (ie, anything that determines who falls on which side of the fourth/fifth place line will be played off).
Round 11-16: Championship bracket plays double round robin. Lower bracket plays single round robin and any needed tiebreaker games for final placement.
Round 17: Tiebreakers for entrance into finals, as needed; tiebreaker games for second or third place, as needed.
Rounds 18-19: Championship finals.

The championship format will be a standard "must win by two" scenario in which a team that is only one game ahead of the remainder of the field receives an advantage in a weighted best-of-three final. A team that clears the field by two or more games wins the tournament outright without need for a final. Outright ties for first will result in a one-game, winner-take-all final (or standard series of single-elimination games for ties involving more than two teams, etc).

SCHEDULE:

We will be running the first 12 rounds on Saturday and concluding the tournament on Sunday morning.

The entire tournament will take place in the Reckford Armory, near the entrance to the Maryland campus (http://www.umd.edu/CampusMaps/bld_detai ... d_code=ARM).

Team registration begins on Saturday at 8:30 in room 126 and runs until 9:00. This will be followed by a brief opening meeting and the start of round 1. Any team that is not present before 9:00 risks forfeiting their first game.

BROADCAST:

Audio from all games at NASAT will be live-broadcasted using Coveritlive.

FRIDAY NIGHT SOCIAL EVENT:

In order to avoid taking on overly ambitious logistical challenges, we have decided not to do the rumored barbecue on Friday night. However, we do encourage teams and staff to meet at Franklin's, a highly recommended restaurant in the College Park area, around 6:30 PM on Friday for an informal mixer. Information about the restaurant may be found at http://www.franklinsbrewery.com/.

Speaking completely unofficially, I'd estimate 35 minutes * 12 rounds + 1 hour for lunch = 8 hours, for an estimated end on Saturday of 5pm. If we're still playing games at 6, I'd be surprised.

Hey, the infinitely wise Maryland scheduling department has just moved this tournament from Armory to Jimenez. The meeting room is Jimenez 0205. Jimenez is located across Campus Drive from the Stamp Student Union. Parking in the lot outside of Jimenez is recommended. We will have staffers in Armory to redirect teams who do not get this message.

Sorry for the late notice, and we'll see everyone tomorrow morning.

Day One is over. Illinois and Texas (9-2) are tied for the lead, with Texas 15 points ahead of Illinois (not 15 points per game, 15 points total over the 11-game schedule). Texas won the first meeting between the teams in overtime. They'll meet at 9am tomorrow morning, and again at about 10:30. California and Ohio (7-4) are still in the running. Georgia (7-4) leads the consolation bracket by three games over Maryland and DC (4-7). Kentucky (3-8), Missouri (3-8), and New Jersey (2-9) round out the field.

Top individual scorer was Saajid Moyen of Copley, OH at 49.4 PPG. Individual results as of the end of the prelims are here. Full results that include playoffs are and will be here and this quick results chart will be updated tomorrow morning to the best of my ability (from New Jersey). It's got three pages: Championship, Consolation, and Preliminaries.

octo,

Good catch; the error is in the Maryland match in Room 0208 in Round 15. Maryland's opponent is Missouri, and New Jersey will be playing Georgia in Room 1117. All the other match info in jonpin's post is accurate.

Edit: My Apologies; "etchdulac" found another error, this time in round 13---Texas does play Illinois in Room 0208 in Round 13, while California actually plays Ohio in Room 1224 in Round 13. In short, California erroneously appeared twice in jonpin's original post, while Texas did not appear, as it shoiuld have, against Illinois, as stated earlier, in Room, 0208.

All four teams in the top bracket still control their own fate--they can win the tournament by winning all their matches no matter what happens in the other matches.

This tournament was really fun. I have no complaints about the set and it was really fun to play against such fantastic teams. Plus, being a half-hour away from home for a national tournament is always awesome. Kudos to Matt Weiner for running a flawless tournament as always and to all of the writers and editors for a fantastic set.

Although recent national tournaments have had live blogs and live audio streams, the sheer amount of NASAT coverage and tournament integration thereof was phenomenal. For most rounds, three or four games had simultaneous live blog commentary and all had audio. Having three staffers to a room (a mod, a scorekeeper, and a live stream operator) though potentially unfeasible at larger tournaments, was a welcome surprise at NASAT.

Congratulations to the Texas team for winning the 2011 National All-Star Academic Tournament in convincing fashion, finishing three games ahead of second-place Illinois and obviating the need for a final.

Full stats are at the above link and the packets will be posted shortly. Please continue to discuss this year's questions and logistics in this thread. I will be starting new threads about next year's tournament and the livecasting experiment.

There doesn't seem to have been any discussion going on here, but I'll just say that it was a pleasure to read for all the teams at this tournament. I saw a pretty phenomenal level of play from everyone. The logistics were excellent, and the questions were great for the most part as well. If I have any specific concerns it's that I thought some of the bonus parts on the science shaded pretty hard (including a GR bonus whose 3rd part was more or less straight out of a graduate textbook).
