Also, are there no negs or bounceback bonuses?

EDIT: I wonder because both of these uncommon practices were in effect in St. Louis

I was rather disappointed that these happened at the WUSTL site. However, since I'm in charge, there will be negs and no boucebacks on bonuses. I've screwed this up many times reading in Missouri.

There is nothing wrong with there not being negs, or with rebounding bonuses. These aren't "uncommon practices," there are other circuits besides D.C., get over yourselves.

There's nothing wrong with not having negs or having bouncebacks, but there's nothing wrong with exercising a personal preference against them in the role of TD either. For what it's worth, good moderators messing up bouncebacks is an actual problem (though one that disappears with experience, but the initial effect is still there), so that's a legitimate logical point to make that decision as a TD.

Bouncebacks do take a additional amount of time that is non-negligible. If you have faith in your moderators - like PACE does for the NSC, as an example - then it's a fine thing to do, which certainly doesn't discredit any results.

I agree that no negs and bouncebacks aren't necessarily bad, but you don't have to get all defensive. I have played in maybe 20 tournaments and only one had those features. In no way was I trying to offend the you or the other circuits, and I am sorry if you feel that way. I am only a sophomore and I regrettably have not had the joy of playing quizbowl in every state.

Just a reminder that this is happening this Saturday. Registration will be at 8:30 in the 210's hallway. Park on the Colesville Road side and go in those doors. Signs will be posted. Games will begin promptly at 9 in the 210's hallway (The near part of the second floor) regardless of whether both teams have arrived. This is because we have been told by the Blair administration that we must be out of the building at 4 or we will owe a significant amount of money. For day of tournament emergencies, please call me at 301-518-5594.

Thank you in advance for arriving promptly.

Edit: Changed registration location.

We have 12 teams so we're doing pools of six in the morning, lunch, then four-team playoff brackets. Every team will play eight games. We may have an actual final of some sort if time permits. We have 11 packets. Mostly, we're trying to run the most efficient tournament possible.

We have 11 packets.
WUHSAC played 12 rounds and had enough for finals and replacements on top of that...

We cut some questions that were particularly terrible. Also the last few rounds had quite a few repeats and we scavenged these for replacements.

RM A got first, QO and RM B tied for second, but that was broken by ppb in favor of QO, and Whitman A came in fourth. The tournament was well run and the questions weren't bad at all.

No, my point was that not every question in all three packets was particularly terrible and/or a repeat question.

We took the good questions in those packets and used them to replace questions that were sub-par in the previous packets. The packets didn't suddenly evaporate, they simply were scavenged.
