Re: Harvard Fall Mirror at Auburn (12/11/10)
So I dunno what's up with stats or anything right now, but Auburn "won" this tournament. Basically in the top flight (including the carry-over match from prelims) Auburn went 6-1 (losing to Loyola), Stevenson went 5-2 (losing to Seven Lakes and Auburn), and Seven Lakes went 5-2 (losing to Auburn and Andrew Deveau). The latter two had to get going because of weather conditions, and no "final" was played. Given the fact that it had the best record, Auburn was declared winner.

Re: Harvard Fall Mirror at Auburn (12/11/10)
I would like to thank our moderators, all of whom did a great job today, as well as our other workers and the teams that participated. There were a lot of great matches played.
As stated above, Jonah will post stats later tonight.
For now, here's some info on the eight top finishers, that is, the championship flight, and an explanation of how things concluded.
1. Auburn 6-1 (lost to Loyola by 10 pts.)
2. Seven Lakes 5-2 (lost to Auburn by 135 and to St. Ignatius by 45)
3. Stevenson 5-2 (lost to Seven Lakes by 5 and to Auburn by 435)
4. Loyola 4-3
5. IMSA A 3-4
6. Carbondale 3-4
7. St. Ignatius 2-5
8. Lisle 0-7
Since Auburn did not clear the field by two, and Seven Lakes and Stevenson were tied, we were ready to conclude the tournament as had been previously announced, by having the tied teams play a full or half-packet, with the winner of that to play Auburn in an advantaged final. By ready, I mean that we had question packets not used yet, moderators and rooms still available, and it was not late (we finished rd. 11 right at 4 p.m.). However, it was the decision of the Seven Lakes and Stevenson coaches to not play any more rounds, because it had started to snow about an hour earlier, and they were concerned about road conditions and wanted to start driving home. I told them we would honor their wishes, and wanted everyone to feel that the final placings were fair. They said that Auburn should be declared first, and they would toss a coin for second. Seven Lakes won the coin toss. For what it's worth, both coaches said afterward that it came out the way it should have, since Auburn defeated both of them in the playoff rounds, and Seven Lakes defeated Stevenson when those two teams played. If it were up to the players alone, probably the additional rounds would have been played. . .I know the Auburn team wanted to play more, as did Kevin from Stevenson. Coaches Romero and FItzgerald were concerned about the weather and their safety, which I understand, and based their decision on that.

I don't feel like going through the files and culling out the duplicate games (the ones carried over form the morning) after the merge, but if you want to do it, the SQBS data files are available here and here. If you do it, please send me the resulting data file and I'll post its output.
