The most important priority for the sysadmin is to keep the existing forums and database up and running, but someone willing to make improvements to the Tournament DB would be also helpful. Here is the current list of responsibilities:
- Maintain the HSQB server stack, configuring server resources, and upgrading software as necessary.
- Manage server-level access and create/deactivate accounts as necessary.
- Troubleshoot issues and outages; engage with upstream providers (primarily Azure) as necessary.
- Maintain backups and site capacity to withstand an outage.
- Upgrades/customizations to phpBB forum software.
- Web development responsibilities as agreed upon with software architect/PACE.
- Reorganization of the packet archive (ongoing project until deemed satisfactory, will be discussed upon hiring).
- Familiarity with basic networking, DNS, and the LAMP stack is an essential skill set for the role. Due to back-end access to private forums, the sysadmin must be retired from competing.
