There is a technicality in this, I think. The top 15% of participants will still qualify...only the champion can register to the field of 128 straightaway. The rest can register, but to the wait list only.

The Ohio championship is going to run into the same predicament.

I know for a fact Ohio has used 60 second math--and it sucks--but I haven't seen any in the last year or so. Best individual performance you've seen?

My experience at big tournaments is limited, but at this year's HSNCT I was scorekeeping a playoff game where Joel from DCC went 8-1-1 125 with 5 of his powers coming after the break and 3 were consecutive. Again, limited experience but it was the best individual stuff I've seen.

Any other stories?

Just a couple observations... 1. With bouncebacks, it is possible--although highly unlikely--that a team can win a match without answering a tossup correctly. That seems wrong to me. 2. This was my first time reading at a national tournament. I read the even-numbered rounds on Saturday in room 232. ...

To that end, I believe that if it came to a vote today, the Mahoning County (Youngstown area, for those unfamiliar) league would be switching to NAQT format.
