The start time is (would be) heavily dependent on SCOP's end time. It looks like SCOP should have a pretty excellent cast of moderators, so that's a positive sign. I'm not sure how many rounds to expect at SCOP though. Brad? Greg?

I can definitely look into it, but I really need an idea of how many teams we're expecting. If this is just a SCOP survivors party it should be workable. This was an awesome day of quizbowl. Thanks to Anant and Dan-Don for making it happen. Congratulations to Loyola A on the victory.

It was great to see the middle school division. The students seemed to all have a great time. Congratulations to SAA for a very nice win.

So Fremd announces it's moving to February 5 so as to not conflict with Ultima, then it announces questions by Geringer so that I'm looking forward to going, then it announces it moved back to conflict with Ultima. Eh, I guess the issue of 3 teams in the top division is moot, because I realized that our van capacity divided by 5 was less than 3 (another advantage of 4v4 IMO). I did sign up two teams for the competitive division, though.

I completely agree about the field getting better, and Champaign is a great example. I really like what Centennial's coach is doing, and there is a lot of talent to be tapped in Champaign-Urbana.

I think some people are misinterpreting. Certainly I don't think I could tossup Stephen Smale just because he won a Fields medal. What I am saying, though, is that for the math canon to expand, the class of Fields medalists is a nice place to start as they are the analogy to Nobel winners in science...

It was a pretty good set from what I remember. Some of the questions were really excellent, so I was a little upset my varsity team didn't get to hear them.
