Re: Painfully Easy Giveaways

The only time I've truly been frustrated with a giveaway is when it goes something like, name this term, the opposite of another term and it's painfully obvious to anyone who has a pulse. If hearing these giveaways is so excruciatingly painful for you, then learn enough to get questions earlier/sto...

Congratulations to Rock Bridge A, who won the second Ladue Invitational Spring Tournament! Second place was Clayton A, third Savannah, and fourth Rock Bridge B. Rock Bridge A finished 3-0 in the superplayoff bracket, and Clayton 2-1, but Clayton decided to forfeit what would have been an advantaged ...

Re: BHSAT Individual Question Requests and Discussion

I may be wrong/nitpicky, but wouldn't the second sentence be more internally pyramidal if you flipped the clues? I think more people know of the existence of a "nine point circle" than what is actually on the nine-point circle.

Some of the rules did not get relayed too excellently at our site, so in the prelim rounds, we kept going even after we hit 8 (but got the bonus based on where we hit 8? it was weird). I think I got a 3 point bonus the first round, a 4 point the second, and a 5 point the 3rd, so that would translate...

There will be a mirror at Westview in southern California sometime in late April/early May. We're still looking for mirrors all over (northern California? Texas? any other regions of the country?) to hear this so far very well-received set!

EDIT: Sunday, April 22nd.

This is a terrible idea. Quizbowl, at every level, is about accessible answers. Louis XIV comes up a lot because he's both important and accessible. It's hard right now because it's not part of the cannon. There aren't that many important people in it (Heraclius, Irene, and the other Komnemus emperors). If they were to be introduced initially as bonus parts, people would learn them and boom, a major part of European history is in the cannon. I ...
