Like many of you I support the idea of sending an all star team to Panasonic if that's the way other states play it then we should too. I also think that the decision to pay for the Gov. Cup champ to attend NAQT, while leaving it open to other qualifiers is a good move, but here are my questions (or...

I hope I didn't give the wrong impression with this thread. I wasn't referring to pulling players when points are a tiebreaker or a consideration in seeding for tournaments, and I certainly agree that a coach can never tell his kids not to buzz in. I'm just looking for thoughts about subbing in kids...

match etiquette
I'm curious what other coaches' and players' opinions are in regard to lopsided matches. In Kentucky's format each team has 2 timeouts and matches are timed (100 total questions worth 1 point each with 15 minute halves in a toss up/bonus/bounce back system). My questions are multifold: 1. When, if e...

Russell
1. I think Russell HS in KY is small, but may well be bigger than Danville. Russell HS (KY) is one of the top programs in KY every year and has been for many years. Russell is considered a 2A school in Kentucky (by athletic standards)which means that it is larger than the smallest 25% of schools in ...

I've checked into the ACE camps but unfortunately there's no way that my kids can really afford it this summer. It would be another year before we could have the fundraising dollars in place to send someone. Also, we practice 3 to 4 days a week as it is (depending on match schedule) and I am looking...

Thoughts on building a more consistent team
I am looking for some: thoughts, ideas, advice, or general discussion on how to improve my team, and get to a level where we can consistently compete with real quizbowl powerhouses. First a little about our situation. We have a school of between 750-800 students in a primarily rural northeastern Ken...

Matt Knupp at Russell?
Wow!! Do I understand correctly that Matt Knupp is leaving Danville for Russell? What does that mean for Danville's quick recall tournament, and more importantly what will that mean for their varsity quick recall program? I know they have quality people returning, but who will captain the ship? I kn...

Fleming County High School will host its annual quick recall tournament on January 20th at FCHS. The tournament format will be Kentucky's Governor's Cup (toss up/bonus). Last year we had a very strong showing of teams within the state. (Danville, JC, Russell, Ashland, Apollo, Central Hardin. just to...

Kentucky 2006-2007
Who can we expect to have a strong showing in Kentucky in 06-07. I know we can count on the usual suspects, but who are some teams that may not get as much coverage that can be a factor, and who do you expect to win each region?
