Teen Jeopardy
I took the online test and was invited to an audition for teen jeopardy. Has anyone else been through the audition process? Any thoughts about how to prepare from it from a quizbowl standpoint?

Re: Understanding science topics
Thanks for all the comments! My question was concerning national-level tournaments. Reading the textbooks for AP Biology, Chemistry, and Physics C and then doing word associations for the rest seems sufficient to get really good only at the regular high-school level. to be honest that method just se...

Understanding science topics
When see a clue or something I've never heard about before, so I look it up on Wikipedia or a website on the Internet. Often, though, especially when the clue is something in above-high-school-level science, even reading about it online doesn't help me. For example, when I look at the Wikipedia arti...

Re: Quizlr: a new study resource
This is great! I like how I can organize my notes, but put much more than can fit in a normal flashcard. One suggestion: Do you plan to provide image hosting? Right now, I have to link to an external URL to add an image, but I'm worried that the websites I link to may go down. Also, it would be usef...

Using college sets for high school
Studying college-level sets to study for high school nationals is good because the difficulty level is much higher. However, many clues, such as third parts of bonuses and first lines, may not be worth studying because they will never come up even at high school nationals. Even among college sets, d...

Re: 27,000 HSAPQ answer lines
If anyone finds this useful, I used a script to make a frequency list of all the answer lines (not counting the lines with frequency 1): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jkLA9Y1OB4fC3pXfaZyMkFqTvkwbN7DsYXoriZ_KW0Q/pub In the future, separating the list into separate lists based on subjects might ...

Re: 2015 PACE NSC: Question set discussion
For the tossup on Plato (the 3rd tossup on the first round), the first clue seemed a bit ambiguous to me: This man's theology was examined by Marisilio Ficino, a prominent Florentine. Marsilio Ficino revived Plato's works, but he is also known for reviving Neoplatonism. If one had buzzed at this par...

The exact same tossup on "Reconquista" was repeated later in the day. The moderators read a tiebreaker tossup instead, though.

Re: Flashcarding
Don't use Quizlet. Although it's easy to use, once you have thousands of flashcards, it's just impractical and time-consuming to go through all of the cards. Instead, use a spaced repetition program, which will give you only a few cards per day, making it much easier to learn clues. I would recommen...

Re: Quinterest: Hassle-free Database Search
Would it be possible to make Quinterest search for specific words? For example, when I search for "pH", I get 700 tossups that just contain those two letters. It would be nice if when you search for a word in quotes, it would search for just that specific word. I could help with the progra...
