Some players are stronger on the buzzer, some are stronger at interpreting the question, some are stronger at certain areas of knowledge. Re: NAQT and balancing by set vs. balancing by round

Hey I had an idea the other day in practice. In order to quell balance complaints/NAQT rebellion somewhat, in the next tournament we host I was thinking we might read all 24 tu's if we do NAQT, then if there's overtime, do penalty kick style OT. Each team answers one 30-point bonus until there's a ...

Re: Letter to Questions Galore

An issue I have is the reference to these forums and to the quizbowl wiki. Sure, all of us here talk pretty seriously about quizbowl, but a reference to an internet forum or a wiki of any sort kinda lessens the credibility of the piece. Also, I think that Weiner's Law #1, Numberwang!, and CLOOS are...

This is correct (that it will be Nov. 6 and 7). Thank you so much for your input Mr. Huff and Mr. Rountree. As a result, we are considering reinstating the Friday rounds. Maybe one alternative is to have a frosh/soph circuit with the same level diffuculty questions as varsity. Dwight, that's why I use PPB to create games between sectionals, so that the sectionals are linked by artificial (lightly-weighted) games in order to produce rankings among teams in all sectionals. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother with PPB.

I don't think this will be much of a problem unless the sample size of bonuses heard is too small, which can only happen for weak teams.
