Re: 2018 SSNCT Pre-Nats Discussion

I think Hallsville is more than just a VSS contender. They are a legit choice to possibly win it all. A superstar and experience go a long way at Nationals.

Re: New England Discussion '17-'18

No worries! Our nationals preference was to go to SSNCT where we really fit best, but the conflict with History Bowl forced us to make a tough call. With many of our players qualifying for both team and individual events, we went with History Bowl PACE falls on graduation day, so we are going to bri...

Note also that unfortunately this year NHBAB and SSNCT coincide, and so I would expect that some teams that may normally be at SSNCT may not be there this year. We are one of them, and are really bummed to be missing SSNCT this year. It is such a great event.

Both my sons, Sean and Rhys, did camps. It definitely made them stronger players. The coolest thing about camp from the perspective of a parent is that it doesn't just help with quiz bowl, but it helps with all academics. It helped drive them both to study subject areas that either aren't offered in...

We went to a local thrift store. Books were a buck for hard cover titles from Hossuni, Faulkner, Shakespeare, etc. Cheap and the money, what little it was, stayed in the community. Also, check the school or local library to see if they are rotating out older books.

And since this is a New England/Northeast thread page, there are many very strong teams in Vermont as well. Essex A is really tough, Middlebury A was phenomenal at nationals last year (SSNCT), and Burlington, CVU, Mt. Mansfield and S. Burlington all were very strong at PHAT with very good PPB ratings.
