Yep...I actually was one of the nine people who made it out of my room, but, alas, they didn't choose me. Oh well, at least somebody from Alabama is representing us well.DVader wrote:Were you trying out too Slade?

The best Alabama team in years? Now I'm dreading meeting them at District. Well... I've seen a lot of teams over the last few years. Obviously I saw all the good teams last year. The year before that I had the opportunity to see Grissom w/Shiva when I was a moderator at ASCA district. I also ...

Lee, brace yourself...my brother doesn't go to Russellville High School anymore. In fact, my mom and dad don't teach there anymore. My dad accepted a job at his hometown high school, and we now leave in Winfield. That said, I do think my alma mater does have a chance to rebuild the program the way t...

How bout a new coach saying to a reporter that he plans to turn his team around 360 degrees? That was actually Jason Kidd after he was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks. One of the funnier quotes in NBA history. Another great one was George Rodgers of the New Orleans Saints, when asked how many yards...

As for best team assertions, if IS beat Grissom, I think that's a stronger statement than point distribution. A super strong player can easily mask the abilities of his teams just by being slightly faster. Another player on the team can have the same knowledge base as the best player, but is just ....

the thing that would scare me about Springs is that Evan and James are good enough to go off at any time, and if they get hot, they could do a lot of damage. They sound a lot like we did in 2003, a whole lot of talent who never really peaked, but was still able to get to the state finals, where you ...

OK, that means so far, we know that Brindlee Mountain, Cullman, Grissom, Athens Bible, LAMP, St. Paul's (possibly TR Miller), Baker, Northside, Pelham, JCIB, Springs, and Southside are in. Out of the Tuscaloosa region, I know that Florence and Holy Spirit got out, and I would guess that Muscle Shoal...

Sadly, regionals have to sort of be placed on geography (except in 2002, when Southside-Gadsden, Gadsden, Etowah, Jacksonville, and Prattville were all in the West Alabama pool). That said, I don't know how to fix the problem, because the Huntsville and Birmingham areas are usually stacked with good...

yeah, sadly, in Alabama, it could end up something like: Tuscaloosa: South Lamar Holy Spirit Muscle Shoals Florence Montgomery: LAMP TR Miller Baker St. Paul's Gadsden: Southside Oak Mountain Hoover Indian Springs Arab: Grissom CCA Cullman Athens In this, Grissom, CCA, Brindlee Mtn., Randolph, Spark...

I'm with everyone on Districts. Unfortunately, in some cases (i.e. the Shoals), there are no really good teams, but to get it promoted there, many undeserving teams get to move on, while good teams like ASFA are punished for being in Birmingham. With that said, good luck to those advancing, sounds l...

If I were to guess, I would say that my old home district will have Florence, Muscle Shoals, Russellville (although I don't think they will have enough to go to regional), and Shoals Christian. Of course, my old region is quite possibly the weakest in the state (although you could make a case for th...

Public, non-magnet schools that are 1A-3A with scholars bowl teams are fairly rare in Alabama. Now, at district, we would have a bunch of small schools compete, but they were generally weak, because a lot of the players just did it to add to their college applications. So, to answer your question, n...
