Gonzaga returns Ted for his senior year, but RM graduated a several seniors, including Chris Ray. DuPont lost their entire starting team and their best B team player as well. This year looks like a rebound year for them, but who knows? They're always good.

With a coach nomination program, don't you run into the problem of perspective? That is, some coaches state that they have great players, but in relation to other teams, they aren't that good.

Therein lies the problem. The majority of teams do not want to change to quiz bowl, because their strength lies in quick recall. By degree of difficulty, our A team got a little shafted, as did MLK Magnet, who had weaker records, but both having one of the 5 hardest schedules. Those statistics are worth noticing.

I did not know that qualifying all three teams at one tournament was a requirement, but if it isn't it definitely should be. This would ensure players participate in the team that best suits him/her.

Actually, Danville's coach Mr. Knupp, formerly of Dunbar JV, is heading to Russell for next year. While they cannot be as strong without Brandon Fyffe, Knupp is a great coach, and he will have them in shape for next year.

Several coaches do that currently. There is not a foreseeable event that would cause them to stop. I, for one, would like to see an opportunity for those solid players being disenfranchised by "schmeniority" to have an opportunity to have fun at a tournament without getting pasted/dominate...

But with that, you have B teams like my own, composed entirely of JV players, and then you have B teams like Gov B, composed entirely of Seniors. I suppose there is no way to get around that, but it would be nice to see a JV Nationals.

Kentucky is generally set in terms of solid teams. There are always a few teams that do well in random tournaments, but unless someone has a stellar freshman, I do not see a dark horse.

Yeah, I know. But it really is a shame. The food was horrible. Regardless, camp is an experience nobody should miss. Even if you're only going for the football, which, I might add, is generally excellent. Somehow we missed all the rain last year.
