Stats are posted here. Note that in the combined stats, Panda Express is listed as 4th, but they actually took 2nd. This is because one of their prelims losses was to a team that did not make the top bracket, and thus did not carry over.

I would agree that you have to consider the difficulty of the tossup at the end vs the middle/early clues. For example, while buckminsterfullerene is pretty easy at the end, I'd say it's definitely easier to get an early buzz on liquid-liquid extraction than it is to get an early buzz on buckminster...
