2) Would anyone here (in the Irvine/LA area) be able to accommodate some ASU team members for that Friday and Saturday night? Our student government won't even decide if they're giving us any money until this Friday and it may be too late to get (affordable) hotel rooms by then. We would only do th...

I am not sure whether or not this is allowed for an official NAQT tournament. However, I am almost certain that that team is not eligible to qualify for nationals, and may not count towards the total number of teams at a tournament.

Re: Baby Anteater XI (1/30/10) at UC Irvine

That's a lot of teams for a California quizbowl event! Good luck to everybody. And this is with the restricted teams! If there are this many teams at a novice event, then theoretically there should be more at "regular" tournaments, right? Where are all the teams that go to novice tourname...

Regarding the discount for
"-$10 for each team that has not competed in an NAQT tournament in the past 2 years."

This only applies for OFFICIAL NAQT tournaments. Therefore, playing Baby Anteater does not disqualify a team for this discount.

The blurt rule discussed there is that if you buzz in but give your answer before the moderator recognizes you by name, you receive 5 points instead of 10 (if you were correct). Hilariously, this is an improvement over the previous rule, which was that "blurted" answers were simply treate...

You missed Fall Novice @ Arcadia in your count, so 11 tournaments this year. Another amazing thing is they've avoided A-sets except for one novice tournament.
