I am resurrecting this thread because I would like to know if there are any recommendations for songs to listen to before a match. Effective February 1, 2017, NAQT has made a number of minor changes to its official rules for all levels of play. The changes principally clarify how and when the clock can be stopped, when score checks can take place, and the details of when a player may change his or her answer midstream. Complet...

This year, I read middle school packets and novice questions at our first few practices so that new players could build up confidence in their abilities. This. Pseudo-scientifically speaking, people have a "know" box and a "don't know" box. So if there's nothing in John Doe's "know" box, he'll get ...

One other thing to look at that I only just noticed: the TTS tends to think apostrophes are grounds for separating a word. So it reads "nation's" like "nation s" instead of "nations". Maybe code the text-to-speech program so it ignores apostrophes? Despite some of these issues, this program is nonet...

I really like this program for three reasons: 1. It has four different voices, each of which has its own pros and cons, but it has that option instead of one Perfect Paul, for example. 2. It keeps a running answerline list on another tab. 3. For the first time in my time with the quizbowl community,...

Yes, in standard quiz bowl, two teams of four players apiece compete. We have competed in three-team matches, but only once a year and for a Diocesan function far outside the mainstream of good quizbowl. Long story short, although there are some weird exceptions, two-team matches are the norm.
