Re: New England 2014-2015

Detailed Analysis of the New England Circuit: Overview: 2013-2014 has been a relatively strong year for our circuit. We have multiple national playoff level teams, a few who have potential to be much more than that, and even some top finishes. Since many teams are losing a bulk of their players, th...

Re: New England 2014-2015

From an outsiders perspective, New England could still do well next year. NY NJ teams will probably attend some tournaments as teams such as AMSA and Darien have the capability to crack the top 150 teams in the nation this coming year. Lexington players have shown the proclivity to improve, and I a...

Re: New England 2014-2015

I'll post my full in-depth analysis on the 14th (was planning to do this but Mike beat me too it). But in my opinion Darien and AMSA are 1a and 1b (Darien beat AMSA twice by slim margins this year; however, AMSA got some new players who have improved the team a ton). Lexington is a step below them b...

Re: Thinking About New Quizbowl Team?

MA's circuit is growing a lot recently. The state will probably have at least 10 tournaments during the next year (minimum): 2 at AMSA, 2 at MIT, 2 at Harvard, 1 at Lexington, 1 at Northeastern, 1 at Williams, etc. Also, most MA teams go to 2 Yale Tournaments, EO Smith Tournament etc. I think our sc...

Is there any plans for an NAQT State Championship for MA this year. Considering that some schools on the circuit are beginning to become nationally recognized, and more interest has been seen in the past year, it would be awesome for our state to host one.

This was by far the best NHBB and arguably one of the best QB tournaments ever in terms of question quality. Mike, Darien is a solid team. You guys almost beat Charter this year, beat Lexington, and beat AMSA (albeit by 5 points in an overtime game). You will win a decent amount of games at PACE. Tell them to look at stats from last year at PACE, especially at teams you have beaten this year. Also, it is n...

I would personally leave that decision up to your coach. While I understand why you don't want that many people to "earn" the same achievement as you even if their contribution is lower, this is true with any type of team. It is also not good for the team dynamic to have that attitude. Even if your ...

Mohan, I agree with you that more rounds are always better for the players. I personally would love to play more rounds.

However, it is important to consider that it is tough on the coaches that have to be at the tournament for 12 hours.

Keep in mind that its not just the players that are affected.
