Re: High School Skype Open June 29th-30th
Yah so this isn't going to be happening, the set is still going to be available, however. I might see if I can get it polished enough to run as an actual tournament next season or try and do a skype-tournament some time in the fall. Why is this not happening, and what is the set's completion percen...

I suppose for tournaments you can throw DCCAT 2 on there, which if I remember correctly, our coach mentioned about running in the fall. It's will now be written under the guidance of Connor Teevens and Ryan Dillon, both of whom are very good question writers, so it should be good this time around.

Nobody is doubting that this was a well run tournament. I'm just saying you have to remember that many of these kids are paying out of pocket, and the 200+ for tournament admission, plus lodging, and plus food might be too much for people. I really wanted to go to this tournament, I simply couldn't ...

I have to agree with Adam on this one, the line was nominal, at best. Everything was by its own compromise when it came to slavery, so it's probably a bad bonus part. Yah what Adam said. My only complaint is that we lost to Loyola on a buzzer race on a super-stock clue in the first line of a tossup and the next game we got beaten on a tossup who's first line was a clue that's on one of the first pages of the frequency list.

But I do agree, even though I would not like it personally, the long term survival and growth of good quizbowl does require a drawback of difficulty. Otherwise you'll have teams just start to play

I agree with Matt here, dumbing down the questions so every team can get 20 ppb is not the answer, that'll just lead to a decrease in competition in the long run. What I have seen that has worked is having a novice set run at the same time as the regular set. For example, the Culver tournament had i...
