Re: Northwestern Wildcat XII

More importantly, the field featured no less than 5 rogue teams! I'm stoked that players are sending the message to coaches: "We like good quizbowl. If you can't or won't take us, we'll go ourselves." (Of course a lot of bad coaches will never receive this message.) To avoid any possible confusion ...

Lisle is still 3-0 against us H2H, and I think they definitely deserve the first seed based on this year. Either way, I'm looking forward to our (presumable) matches at sectionals and masonics. And Robert, I'm really sorry you weren't invited (or were you?). I'll make sure the players have more involvement in getting the field together, as coaches often forget people. It's unfortunate this formal posting was made so late, as Latin (as a team) may have experienced its last good quiz bowl of the year. Still, on the off chance that something can be put together at the last minute, what kind of cost would be associated with attending?

The logistics were terrible; the last F/S matched finished at 2 o'clock despite the rounds only being 16/16, and the coaches meeting was at least an hour. Particularly exciting was our match where the other team's coach read the first 8 questions in about 35 minutes before our coach stepped in to r...

This year is the first year we have been guaranteed more than 5 years at (just about) any tournaments, so not everyone views 8 guaranteed rounds as terrible. This is a straw man argument. Of course a pool system that only takes one team from each pool is bad, that's why nobody doing pools should set them up that way. How is only taking one team per pool worse than only taking two? You can lose only twice and be eliminated from championship contention! A...
